Fatigue - Is this forever?

What I want to know is is does it ever go away? I cant sleep and I am tired all the time. Some days it's all I can do to get out of bed. Of all my symptoms this is the one I hate the most. I can handle the pains in my hands and feet, been dealing with that most of my life really, the vision problems can be compensated for with reading glasses and a pocket magnifiying glass, and I can write notes to myself and set the schedulers up on my computer and phone to remind me of things. But the fatigue keeps me from getting out and enjoying life. I have these little energy drinks my wife purchases for me by the case and they help some, but today it just is not enough. This weekend has been really bad. Today just typing on my computer is exhausting.

" Well, from all I have read, fatigue ranks high in the symptom list of MS. Talk to your neuro about different drugs that you could possibly take to help. Some take Provigil, Amantadine, Ritalin(I probably spelled these wrong). Also, talk to your doctor about depression, because that can come along with MS and also zap your strength. Another thought is look up the side affects of meds. that you are taking and see if fatigue is one. Perhaps you you could also talk to your neuro about vitamins..like the B ones. Some people with MS have love B12, which can cause low energy.

Good luck! "

" That would be a great idea if i had anything resembling medical insurance. But I am self employed and I don't qualify for medicaid. Not really eager to either. If I got an official diagnosis I might be able to qualify, but without existing medical coverage doctors are unwilling to give a diagnosis becuase it makes getting insurance impossible. So it;s a catch 22 situation. I cant get help till I can prove I need help and I can't prove I need help till I can get help.

I mean the doctors all but said I have MS, but they do not want to put anything on paper yet. "

" I know that the fatigue is definitly not a good symptom. I feel the same way sometimes. But I push myself. The fatigue though with me comes on so sudden. I can be cleaning house and then I set down to rest and then I don't want to get back up. I take a number of meds. Everytime I turn around I have a new one. My Rx's only cost me 3.00 dollars each a month and the total is 114.00. I take one for blood pressure for fluid retension one for cholesterol my shots, an inhaler one for sleeping two for depression. Then I take my vitiamins and supplements. My esophagus doesn't work well and then my chest hurts from the muscles. I wish the fatigue wasn't so bad but it is and we have to try and rest when we can. But don't rest to much because your muscles can wear themselves down if not used. "

" Sometimes it goes away... not for long however. Our friend fatigue is always around the corner waiting to tempt us with candy knowing that should we eat the candy, we will become very tired. I am speaking in parables now, so forgive the nonsense writing. Most days I suffer from fatigue. Some days I have more energy than other days. As I get older however, I find that I will PAY for any chore I do when I am feeling "energized". "

" I went for many years without a diagnosis and I really struggled with fatigue. During this time I exercised when I was able to and I took good vitamins including B-12. It seemed to help. Now that I have a diagnosis I still take vitamins, but it seems like my fatigue is even worse so I also take provigil 200 mg per day. Plus, I take sleep aids to help me get a decent nights sleep at night. Take care. "

" cocaine is a hell of a drug. Ok kidding...Provigil is the answer, the others make you wirey and unable to think.

Since times are tough, they have like this energy spray sold at walmart, that lasts for 12 hours. You get about 20 doses for 5 bucks. It works great and contains mostly B12 and niacin. The 5 hour energy drinks are good also but cost like $3.50 a pop, better off paying $150 for Provigil. Vitamin B complex everyday i think is a must. It needs to build up. Overall you'll be less tired. Not much else you can do besides steroids and other harmful stuff. "

" Somethings you could look into are:
* taking the gluten out of your diet,
* add more fruits, veggies and increase protein that stabilizes energy throughout the day.
*Adding B complex vitamin(one with B2, B6,B9,B12, etc) since they are water soluable it is VERY hard to OD.
*Plus add 2000-3000 IU of D3 a day with a fishoil and flaxseed oil pill.
This will increase healthy essential fats needed for turning D3 into a secosteroid reducing inflammation, etc.

Hope you can find a few of these suggestions helpful. Please post what helps you as it may help others

" I do agree taking itleast a multivitamin is essential. I can tell a world of difference since starting mine. I still have the muscle fatigue but feel more awake and alert. "
