" I would suggest talking to your doctor. An inner ear infection can cause what your are talking about. "

" I have had vertigo as that is part of my sx usually if I start to get dizzy and nauseus I lay down and try to sleep it off. Talk to your dr though that would be the best thing I can think of. Good luck and hope you feel better. "

" Ear infections are the most common cause of vertigo and yeah, it can happen when you are alseep. There are meds for it, but they tend to help with the nausea and make you sleepy. Get checked out for infection first, it could be down to a thing called Labyrinthitis, this could be down to infection or an imbalance of the fluid in the middle ear. Vertigo has several causes, these are just the most common ones, see your Dr and find out for sure what is causing this. Good Luck. Hugs, Owlxxx "

" Just to clarify...there is something like vertigo that happens with me that is MS. It is bad when my ON is acting up, and has happened from other things. But to ever assume that it is MS is not a good thing as in this case, it could very easily be something that you can cure. "

" MS might be a less common cause of vertigo than an ear infection but MS can in fact be the reason you are having severe vertigo. If MS affects the nerves responsible for balance it can produce the same results as having an ear infection. "

" Do you feel this when you are lying down? I used to wake feeling nausious and dizzy all the time. Yes it can be your ears. You should see a ENT. Or your primary doc will refer you to one. If that checks out all right then they prob will send you to a neurologist. I am glad my prim doc knew what to do. She sent me to a Neurologist and that is when I was diagnosed with MS. Verdigo is not fun and it can be very drastic. My last attack lasted one week and a half. I thought I was going to die. I own a housekeeping service and my husband had to literally go with me to help me clean my clients homes. He didn't have to but my clients are important to me and he knew that. But what you can take is have you some motion sickness over the counter medication I forget the name of it. But if it turns out to be nothing more than verdigo than just get the over the counter med. It has the same stuff the Rx has Meclizine. Just not as big of dose. At anyrate Please go to the doc. Like I said I found out i have MS and that was only 6 months ago. I could have found out alot sooner had I went to the Neurologist my first doc sent me to. But I switched doctors and never thought about it again until that last attack. Now I take my Avonex shot once a week and I have not had an attack or headache since about a month after the shots started. Hope you feel better "

" I've had severe vertigo and dizziness as one of my major recurrent symptoms for many years. There is a test that your neurologist can order to determine the cause of the vertigo if it persists called a VNG or ENG test. I've had the test done 3 times and it has been determined that my vertigo is caused by my central nervous system and therefore most likely MS. I have had vertigo so severe that it has awakened me from a deep sleep and I've felt like the bed was tipping completely sideways. I've also had terrible nausea. My vertigo and dizziness would last for a couple of months at a time. Solu-medrol usually helps it resolve within a couple of weeks. However, as others have said MS is not a common cause of vertigo and dizziness that's why I had so many tests done my doctor was not convinced even after one positive result. Take care. "

" Well I have not had verdigo for at least 6 months now since I have been taking my Avonex shots. But My Neurologist has already done all the neccessary tests. I have had every test under the sun done. Then I had two mri's of my head and spine. It is definitely MS and he has no doubts. Believe me I wish he did. I wish there was a cure not just shots to slow the progression down. But thanks for the info and I never knew what to take for verdigo except meclizine which is what all the doctors has perscribed to me. Now I have been to the ER for migraines and they gave me an IV of what you mentioned. But I am fine with the Verdigo as it stands now and hope it doesn't return. Its miserable. "

" Oh and I forgot to say I did have an ENG test and also had all the tests done before a diagnosis. I am just glad that he found something so that I didn't think I was going crazy. Now I know and well it eases my mind but still is another worry. "
