Is it true you can build anti-bodies to the Rebif?

" I think it's rare. Your neurologist can do a blood test if they think you are developing anti-bodies to the Rebif. I believe it would take a while for this side effect to occur. Many people have taken Rebif for years without a problem. "

" This is a really hard question. The problem is that there is not another person to put side to side and see what would have happened without the Rebif, or yet another to see what would have happened with another drug. Because so much of MS is cumulative, it's hard to say what is just something that has slowly been worsening, and something that is new. I know that now my neuro is starting to suggest Tysabri, and feels that it will be more effective, but I can't quite pin her down on if it would be a long term change, or if I would change and then go back. In any case, I have several years with Rebif, and although I have had some issues during that time, I feel confident in sayig that whether it was the Rebif or it was luck, I am not unhappy with the amount of progression, of course none would be better. I guess the answer that I see is that, for whatever reason, they want me to try something else because the last year has been a little rough. So I think that means she thinks that Rebif is not as effective as it was. If that is due to anti-bodies, I'm not sure. But it is something I have considered. "

" I THINK YOU CAN BUILD UP NEUTRALIZING ANTIBODIES TO ANY OF THE MS DRUGS. I BUILT-UP NEUTRALIZING ANTIBODIES TO TYSABRI AFTER ONLY FIVE INFUSIONS. BUT BY WHAT I'VE READ AND TALKED TO PEOPLE ABOUT IT SOUNDS LIKE TYSABRI IS THE BEST. "

" Building antihodies to Rebif is actually saying you build them to interferon beta 1a which is the same thing to avonex. It is just taken in a different way. Rebif is given subcu and avonex is givin im. They of course the same medication. "
