sensation in my leg

A few weeks ago I was experiencing quite a violent leg jerk while i was in the middle of a flare. That has stopped, but one of the feelings associated with it hasn't.

Before the leg jerked, I would get a feeling of... well, the only way I can describe it is 'anticipation' in the leg. It feels like the leg is expecting something to happen. I know, it sounds stupid.

It's not painful, I guess it's almost an ache.

Does anyone relate?

" I can relate, what you are saying doesn't sound stupid at all! My right leg has that anticipating sensation quite often when I'm trying to sleep.First the sensation then a muscle contraction ...happens about every 20 seconds...aaarg. "

" Yes, I have a muscle/facial jerk, that happens periodically, but I can feel it there, ready to happen most of the time, like a sensation in my brain. Sometimes it happens even when I'm not getting that feeling. "

" this sounds like it might be restless leg syndrome or something very similar--lots of people with ms have it--theres stuff like tizanadine --baclofen and others that help--and some drugs cause it or make it worse "

" It it's Restless Legs Syndrome, let me tell you, it can be quite unpleasant.

There is a group on here devoted to RLS, so you may want to go to the front page and do search and find it. Or real quick, you can click on my page, as I'm in the group and get to the group that way.

There's a lot of people there who can give you suggestions.

Do you have a feeling like you need to run, or move your legs? Has it happened much before in your life? Is it one or both legs? What time of day does it usually happen?

If it's RLS, there are plenty of drug regimens that can help. And some people swear by iron pills or stretching or hot baths.

Best of luck! "

" Oh yeah. In the late 90's I had the oddest relapse. I was walking to catch my train to work and suddenly my right arm started to rise without my permission... it just went up along my side slowly. When I tried to push it down, I lost my balance. As the relapse went on it traveled to my right leg. If I exerted myself... you know like walking.... the arm/leg rise would occur. I took Carbatrol to control the symptoms and eventually it disappeared never to make a visit again. "
