" Being one of the horde of inked Americans (lol!), I can only see that someone would get a flare if they freak themselves out about getting it...hyperventilate, barf, sweat, etc. "

" Never had any problems with my tattoos. If anything, it was something I wanted to do that made me happy, so like I said not a problem. My flare ups didn't occur around any of those times I got one. "

" I have my children's name on my ankle. Besides the pain of the tattoo... that was it. I did not have a flare-up. "

" I often see people with stainless steel jewelry piercings and I think to myself I wonder if that is causing them problems like the clip that was in my caused me. Are they allergic to a metal I ask myself. Are they fatigued all the time and don't know why. Do they have joint and muscle pain and don't know why. I think metals and what they can do to you all the time now because I know for some people they cause great harm while others are not bothered at all.

When I go for an MRI thay always make me sign a release saying that I have no tatoos so I wondered about that as well. So I did some research and found out that it's the metal in the paint they are worried about. I have an MRI every year for breast cancer screening and they always ask me do you have tatoos. Apparantly the M in MRI stands for magnetic. There is a giant magnet in the machine they use and you can die if you have a metal clip in your brain as in aneurism clip. While the machine is on you will live (this is only for the clip in the brain)but as soon as they turn the machine off you will die.

Anyway most people are okay with metals I am not one of them. I had a reaction to a speculum made from stainless steel/ nickel. A bad reaction. "

" Hey Sharon...they ask about tats when getting an MRI because pigments can throw off the magnets. For example, red pigment has a lot of iron, of course, so it will cause problems with magnets...they'll even get hot during x-rays. Kind of like how they make you take off all your jewelry because of the metal. My radiologists wanted to know if I could track my tattooists down to find out what kind of ink they used...as if! lol! Since my ink is on my back, no spinal MRI's for me! "
