I am worried about being able to work because this is a lousy economy that has devastated huge segments of professional employment. And that is completely outside of having any kind of health problems.

It's hard to make yourself marketable in this economy with an unpredictable disease like MS. I applied for SSI. The eye doctor they sent me to said I was disabled, The mental doctor said I fit the guidelines, but rec'd a denial. I know 85% are denied first time, still frustrating. I have more doctor visit and records to gather for appeal and will stay the course.

I continue to work, no matter how bad I feel. But, I work from home. If I didn't work from home I know I would be retired now. It is difficult even to work from home a lot of days. There are days that I just check my email and phone mail regularly and don't do too much else because needing to lie down. Then, I find myself checking email and phone mail at 11 pm or later like now, 2:05 am at night just to keep on top of it, but it works. Then there are days that I'm very productive and get double the work done. I want to keep my mind busy and I think it is important for my overall general health to keep working for as long as I can.
Finding work from home is not the easiest thing to do. Maybe some type of bookeeping business or typing job? I really don't know. I'm lucky, I work for the federal government and have been employed with them for 35 years. I believe that they are making special accommodations for me. Working while having MS really all depends upon your case of MS. If you feel healthy enough then I say work. It will be good to keep your mind and body busy. If you require a lot of down time due to fatigue, then may I suggest that you follow others advice about applying for SSDI.
