Upper Abdominal Swelling

I've had upper abdominal swelling on and off for at least a year now. It's in the same area (or behind) where my stomach is located. I know it's not constipation or IBS. I'm not having any trouble with gastritis or ulcers. Sometimes I'll also have nausea, stomach cramps and back pain with the swelling. What could be causing it?
