Could this be MS ?

I have had vague, but progressing symptoms for several years now. The first time MS ever entered my thought process was a few years ago when I had a visual disturbance and severe headache. After being admitted to the hospital, many tests later, my internist had a neurologis take a look, my MRi had many "spots" on it. Well, the neuro didn't think MS at the time and I was treated for a TIA. I had several prior and had an endarterectomy to clean out my left carotid . The reason I am thinking it actually could be MS is because of the recent symptoms I have had. I have become extremely clumsy and I can't seem to hold on to things at times. I "toss" things across the room and run into the walls and door frames. I have extreme weakness in my hands. The most disturbing thing is this awful sharp shooting pain in my left eye. It feels like someone is stabbing me, and my eyes hurt when I look up, down and sideways. This has happened quite a few times recently, mostly waking me up at night.
What do you all think MS. or something else altogether ? Thanks for replies. Posted on 10/20/09, 02:10 pm |

Hi - How scary for you : - )) Why don't you go back to your GP and ask them to refer you for a further MRI scan. (sorry in UK we have to be referred). I would ask them to look again because there is nothing worse than not knowing whether you have MS or not. I hope and pray for you that you get a diagnosis soon. Not sure if I've helped you or not, but please feel free to mail me anytime you like. Take care love Jane x

In answer to your very first question, yes this could be MS. However, there are a number of other things it could be, too. Definitely worth going back to the medical professionals and asking for their opinions.
Good luck
