ms's had total thyroidectomy?

Anybody had a total thyroidectomy ? Having one in December levels still normal, but have a large right lobe goiter, ALL the symptoms of low thyroid. Endo agrees it has to come out. Biopsy says benign, but endocrinologist is worried by how rapidly it has enlarged. Went to surgeon on Friday, (very highly recommended cancer surgeon) he was a little shocked as to how large it was.(I'm a larger woman, so it is not noticeable, but is growing down under my collarbone, and is very uncomfortable. Just need to know what to expect "from real people"

No advice, but I may be facing the same thing in the fututre. My Dr. ran a dopler on me when I asked about the possibility that my veins could be clogged( HBP, cholesterol, obese). They were OK but they found nodules on both sides and a recent one showed they have grown but not hot as shown on t-scan. Good luck and Merry Christmas Ha! What a present. It just came to mind. I think one of my husband's relatives had a goiter removed and she's fine. Don't worry too much. It'll be OK.
