I havnt seen this show but lately there have been crime shows like criminal minds that have characters with DID. IMHO DID seems to be the illness that has replaced schizophreniz and since there are still a lot of psychiatrists who dont believe in the diagnosis I think its going to take a long time before people with DID are going to be stopped being shown as 'monsters'

On the NPR Program, Science Friday, DID was discussed but it was much more of a debate on whether or not DiD exists, or if it is a mis diagnosis of a combinations of other disorders. I did not find that helpful at all.

One friend who has just accepted her DID, told me it was strange but she had identified with Nikki long before she understood why she went away a lot.

We had a case in our county in which a man, Billy Milligan was found innocent of a rape and Milligans attorneys argued it was done by one of his alters. That is the only case anyone knows of in which a defendent successfully used MP to gain acquital. He was sentenced to an indeterminat say in the state mental hospital and was declared 'cured' a few years back and was released.

TV shows producers don't let facts interfere with a good story. Lately that even seems to includes Newscasts. That probably will not change much in our life time.

havent seen it. but one life to life had a DID case with jessica/tess and her mother niki/viki also port charles with livvie/tess(sort of) and united states of tara..i dont know if that show is still on tho.

i've seen it. i think the character of her is worked out quite well. but the fact that she is a monster i think had more to do with the special ability she had.
and later on in heroes, you see that some guys did something to her mind or something..

and i do agree that DID seems to be replacing schizophrenia.
