Can somebody please provide a link that discusses the pros and cons of getting a bone marrow transplant for MM?
I realize that everybody's situation is different, but I want to be armed with knowledge when this topic comes up with my oncologist. Thanks and Happy Columbus Day eve. Stan Posted on 10/12/09, 12:10 am |

Stan,
You are a wise man to be discussing the pros and cons of a transplant. To fight your disease you need to know about your disease. The web sites Bamboo gave are an excellent start. If you do decide to have a bone marrow transplant my blog may be of interest, I have had two autologous stem cell transplants (not bone marrow). A lot of what you go through is similar. Look at the labels on the left of the blog for topics, especially "transplant" and "summary". www.supersidnz.blogspot.com Sid

HI Sid,
I've been reluctant to read your blog as I've been inundated with too much info so far. So I just now looked through it. Wow...that is some great information. thank you very much. I will spend more time on it in the next few days. Thanks again for sharing. I finally told my kids last week...my mom, dad and brothers this morning and tomorrow I'll let some community members know. I would keep hiding it since I'm still in decent shape. But my voice is that of a 100 year old man, so I cant' really hide it anymore.

Hello to all MM persons have just joined the site and have recently went thru a bone marrow transplant got my results today and they were mixed results.Clear on some parts of the marrow and not so good on other parts.Would encourage any person to take this if it prolongs life expectancy.Every day is a good day that you are alive and remember you cant cure it but can keep it at bay or at an acceptable level for as long as possible.Remember new drugs are on the go and if it cant benefit us now will certainly benefit those in the future.
