MM and exercise

I am wanting to lift weights but am unsure as to what I can and can't do. I realize that I will no longer be lifting anything heavyt but will be doing much, much lighter weight with more repetitions.
My doctor doesn't seem to emphasize the diet and exercise aspect to MM. .Should I see a physical therapist before doing anything? I do not have any pain, but seeing the lesions on my vertebrae with the CT scan, made me very, very cautious. To the point where I'm not doing any strength exercise. I'm walking 30 minutes every day but feel it would be good to maintain muscle strength to help take some of the load off of my bones. Any input would be appreciated.
He said I was stage 2.
Thanks

" I've been wondering the same, I was diagnosed at stage 4 lesions
on ribs/sternum, hip/pelvic, and humerous?, After stem cell transplant diagnose went to stage 2 with resolve of large tumors being blasted (Yah). I am on Aredia therapy every 3 months from monthly now. I need to remind myself to be careful-no longer rearranging furniture on my own or lugging 10 bags of groceries at
once but would like to do some strength training/light weights for
muscle/toning. Dr keeps telling me "no heavy lifting", just looking for some reassurance that 3-5lb dumb bells wouldn't be DUMB "

" It's obvious that maintaining strength without overdoing it is very important. I hate to be one of those people that harps against western medicine, but I would think one of the first things the doctor would recommend would be to see a physical therapist who specializes in helping cancer patients...I was told eat right, get rest and don't forget to exercise.
I'm trying to get a referral to a physical therapist next week. "

" I just asked my oncolgist for a referral for physical therapy. But am dreading it! I am so fatigued, so often and they say "exercise." So I've started by taking short walks. But I really need to work on my core. I wear a brace around my lower back. Without the brace I am in too much pain. I am going to go to a place that has a pool. I find it easier to exercise in a pool. "

" I walk regularly, do stretching, leg lifts for stomach, body twists, minor weights but avoid anything that involves impact.
From experience impact can cause my ribs to fracture. This includes uncontrolled sneezing and continual coughing. For those I try to brace my body.
