Profuse sweating from the head

Hi everyone! I am now into my 6th year of myeloma and one of my most annoying problems I have is that I am having increasing sweating - primarily from my head! Its as though a shower tap has been turned onto my hair and the drips just pour down my neck -- its not sweating from my whole body, just from my head. I carry a dry washcloth to wipe my forehead when this happens, but ultimately I look as though I have just stepped out of a shower. Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, how do you solve it? Is it caused by the myeloma, drugs for pain, or the chemo? Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. Cath

" Thank you Caniche for your message. You are the first person who has described the sweating head in exactly the same way as I do! I live in Australia and last year I found that the sweating was much worse in summer. Unfortunately we are now heading towards summer and I am starting to get worried again. I will certainly try your suggestions and thank you for taking the time to respond. Cheers, Cath "

" I wonder if the sweating goes with some of the anemia, after all it is making us work harder than before.

Flu and pmeumonia shot yesterday, aredia infusion this morning.

A nap is looking real good! "

" My sweating has been much better through the Australian winter, but now we are heading into summer and I'm starting to worry. I think your 'salt' idea is a very good one, and I've noticed that I'm actually craving it more these days., If your doctor comes up with an answer, please let us know -- especially if there is some treatment available!! Thanks to all for writing of your experiences -- it helps to know that one is not alone!! Cheers, to all, Cath "

" Wow, Australian summer. That's so funny to me as we are coming out of summer. But I've noticed my Tom profusely sweating from the forehead. He leaves a puddle on his pillow no matter the temperature. I don't quite understand it myself. Just an annoyance, I guess. "

" its more than an annoyance sarah -- it can be very embarrassing as well as a real bother to continually wipe, wipe, wipe up!! People tend to think that you just got out of a shower, or that you are extremely HOT and offer you all kinds of support!! Very nice of them, but you know that its just MM and its silly side effect -- whether hormonal, medical, or a lack of salt -- whatever you just wish it would STOP!!! "

" The sweating can be just crazy, my friends and co-worker get very upset when the "waterworks" start.. They're waiting for me to fall over
from stroke or heart attack. I thought at first it was part of the "change"
as my transplant pushed me into menopause. Thanks for the tip on
keeping a towel with me. I need to change my hairstyle because
I look horrible once it stops. It comes on rather sudden w/me and
I haven't been able to link it to a perticular time/place, but it is so annoying. "
