My Mom went from just Revlamid to radiation of a rib. She was not eating and they said the Revlamid had plateau'd-out. Basically, she wasn't getting any worse but she wasn't getting any better. On the MMRF web page my father & I looked up recent treatment and Velcade with Revlamid looked promising. 33% of the people went onto remission & thats with Multiple Myeloma- can you believe it? So, we spoke to Mom's Dr. @ the Cancer Cntre and told her that we were interested in seeing about that combo of Chemo and wanted to know if she thinks that would be good for Mom. Of course she had to do her own research and now for a little over a month Mom has been 2 weeks on 1 week off. Her hemoglobin looks great and she's in a lot less pain. We still have our fingers crossed but at least we have a greater hope.
I'll keep you all posted of how she's doing with the combo- But for Multiple Myeloma('The Cancer that Never Goes Away') a chance at remission is such a break thru. Peace Posted on 09/20/08, 04:09 pm |

yay for your mom!! That;s awsome news and thanks for sharing that. I get the IMF and MMRF newsletters too and have read about this promising tx. I was on Rev after being on Thal for over 4 mos. Thal did nothing for my #'s and Rev dropped them to safe levels for my BMT. I am now 3 mos post BMT and feeling awesome. You are a wonderful daughter to be so supportive, so be proud of yourself. Velcade and revlimid-
Something to consider- curcumin may have synergistic effects when combined with velcade therapy- some posters to the b-m.org forum report improved numbers when the two are combined. http://beating-myeloma.org/search/... CAN YOU PLEASE UPDATE HOW YOUR MOM IS DOIING & IF SHE IS STILL ON THE TRIPLE THERAPY, VELCADE, REVLIMID & DEX. MY MOM STARTED THESE 3, SHE HAS HAD JUST ONE ROUND. HER BLOOD TESTS ARE VERY LOW, WBC, HGB & PLATELETS, IT'S BEEN 2 WEEKS SINCE THE LAST ROUND. WE ARE WAITING FOR HER BLOOD COUNTS TO COME BACK UP.
DR.'S NOT SURE IF SHE'S A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR ANOTHER ROUND. SHE IS HAVING SUCH A HARD TIME RESPONDING TO CHEMO'S. I'M JUST CURIOUS HOW YOUR MOM IS DOIING, PLEASE WRITE WHEN YOU CAN. THANKS. KATHLEEN
