My Uncle is 69, dx three years ago, is not doing well. Wants to get closer to family in Oklahoma. Has been turned down by CTCA for treatment, as they are not taking new Medicare patients....he has cardiac disease and kidney disease. Does anyone have any suggestions, thoughts, facility recomendations? We live in Tulsa, he lives in Indiana.
Thank you.

" Thank you for your reply. The issue is currently regarding insurance, he has medicare and Tricare, and has tried to get into CTCA....he actually wants to get closer to family, here in Oklahoma. I am not sure who his doctors have been, but am gathering all of that information now. Does your husband have it as a result of Agent Orange? "

" hi, no he is only 44 he was dx in march of 2011 :) has had 2 stem cell transplants. I would check with most of the major myeloma centers because I think there are trails which you do not have worry about insurance. Their is a myleoma specialist in arkansas Dr. biologie, good center in tx md anderson, mayo clinic in mn, So i would check with a really good specialist and see if your husband can get into the trials. Also know that some of the drug mfg will waive if people can not afford the cancer drugs. :)

" Hi Cheri,

if it is thought this MM is caused by agent orange shouldn't he have free health care at his local VA hospital? Do you have a VA hospital he can go to in Tulsa? I would think that would be the best option for a Veteran. Tamster23 has given you a good list of specialists.

Am sorry you and your uncle are going through this, hope a solution is found soon for him.

Kris "
