I am on the last week of my 2nd month of revlimid. I am taking it for 4 months then will be going ihto the hospital for a stem cell transplant. I take 10 dexamethasone once a week also. I have been having shortness of breath in the last couple of weeks and wondered if that was normal? Is this something I should be calling my doctor about?

" I just completed exactly the same treatment and am now at Mayo Clinic getting started on my SCT. I did not experience shortness of breath. Sure, you should check with your doctor. They want to hear of any unusual reactions. I have found that I need to act as my own advocate by asking for clarification when things don't make sense. Let me know how you are doing. "

" Me again. Yesterday I learned that anemia often causes shortness of breath. Could that be the issue? "

" I am doing velcade /dex 5th cycle began yesterday

Is shortness of breath not being able to fill you lungs -if so that is worrysome talk to the doc today.

If shortness of breat is getting out of breath and having to rest up a bit that is less worrysome but you should discuss it with the docs if only to set your mind at ease.

My approach is to get out of breath for a good five minutes several times a day. I figure the exercise is like the athletes do at altitude to grow hemoglobin.

And it feels kind of good to push a little. "
