I am now 31 weeks pregnant and regularly on 4.5mg of LDN and I am doing great. I was on LDN during the first 5 weeks, and I had a mild relapse then, but I discontinued it on the belief that most MS women feel their best during pregnant. It was not the case with me. In week 10 I had a very bad relapse (I was then off LDN, though my OBG encouraged me to stay on LDN, while my neuro thought that it was better to stay off. However, she had no experience before me with LDN, I was the first, and she feared the consequences), the left side of my face went completely numb, the right side of the body, double vision, a lot of vomiting...it repeated once more in week 13, 2 weeks before the wedding, and in week 15 I continued with the LDN. My OBG was even more in favour of me taking the LDN, his motto being: If the mom is feeling bad, the baby will feel bad too, plus having in mind that the genesis of the baby organs is complete by week 12. It took me almost 3 whole months to get over that relapse, now I am feeling fine and the baby is progressing beautifully. I fear the birth now and the very much possible relapse after birth. I plan to stay on LDN during birth and breast feeding. My neuro wants me to take IVIG right after giving birth, and they are somewhat compatible with LDN, but Dr. Lawrence thinks that they confuse the body and are not much of good. I am still contemplating that issue. I was encouraged to stay on LDN during pregnancy by the posts from beach and a few others that Aletha sent, and I am much thankful for that. I would encourage you to stay on it as well. LDN is also used as a fertility drug by some doctors, and believe me it works good with that purpose. My becoming pregnant has much to do with the LDN. :))) If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Best wishes nasti

Please go to page two - at the top right you will see Naltrexone declared safe at the 50 mg level. That tells me that a mere 4.5mg or less is pretty insignificant. Mary Boyle Bradley's brother, Phil, has his practice at a fertility clinic in Ireland and uses Naltrexone as part of his treatment for infertility with great success. He was kind and gracious enough to help us with our decision via email, confirming his belief that it was totally safe for mother and baby. I hope this link works..... http://www.fertilitycare.net/docum... I hope this is helpful to someone out there. By the way, the info on this document regarding Dr Hilgers is quite interesting. His interview featured Ms. Ronnie Raymond, who has suffered with primary progressive MS for 20 years and who found LDN a year ago. She has experienced a return of her energy and mental clarity. In addition, the editor of www.ldninfo.org, David Gluck, MD, as well as Victor Falah, chief pharmacist of Irmat Pharmacy, were also interviewed for the broadcast. On May 21, 2008, ABC Action News of Philadelphia reported the story of Pam Sweigart of PA whose debilitating Crohn's disease was interfering with her ability to care for her youngsters, until she obtained relief through the use of low dose naltrexone. The report also features interviews with two Penn State professors: Dr. Jill Smith, author of the first published clinical trial of LDN in humans, as well as Dr. Ian Zagon, who for over 20 years has pioneered animal research on endorphins as well as on LDN. I have been using LDN now for 2 years. 4mg works best for me. Any higher the stiffness returns.
In the past when I have stopped taking LDN, my body reminds me why I need to keep taking it. I mix my own, it is alot cheaper that way. I have a rx for naltrexone. Come January, I will inform the neuro of it. Been on all the expensive medications, which have only caused more problems.

More detail: What kind of doc prescribed it and did you have to convince him you had a "problem" or did he prescribe it so you could make your own LDN?
