Mono and my immune system.

Hi all,
So Ill just start out with my story. Caught mono my senior year of Highschool and caught strep at the same time. I was bedridden for a good 2.5 to 3 months and lost 15 pounds. Im pretty uncertain if I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I am usually tired a lot and its hard for me to get out of bed if I don't get enough sleep, and I mean hard not just oh I don't want to get up yet. Anyways after getting mono I now seem to catch everything. I get strep like 3 times a year as well as a cold like 4 or 5 times a year. Its really starting to get on my nerves and Im tired of being sick. Anyways I heard even after the mono has gone away it can still weaken your immune system. I was wondering how much truth there is to that? How does it weaken the immune system? And finally is there anything I can do to help my immune system now? Also how good are my chances of this resurfacing, since I do get sick all the time?I heard that it can come back if I ever get really sick again and don't take care of it. Im pretty sure that I am now allegric to gluten now, don't know if this is just from the mono or what though, think Im going to stop eating gluten for a good 2 weeks to see if I really am. I really appreciate any input or suggestions given. Thanks. Posted on 10/07/09, 07:10 pm |
