My daughter has had mono for about a month now and we are very concerned as she is very nauseas at frequent intervals. We have never heard of that as a symptom. She has missed a lot of school due to the nausea more than the fatigue. Can anyone comment on this?

I would guess that she probably has another problem. I am 25 and have been struggling with mono for about two years. In the beginning I was having a lot of stomach pain and my doctor tested me for H-pylori. It is a stomach virus which can cause nausea, pain, and ulcers.

My daughter is 9 years old and has had mono for about a month now. Her symptoms are just like your daughter's. She has constant nausea. Oddly, it generally gets worse after 4 p.m. She had been eating some for about a week, but now she's relapsed and hasn't eaten anything in 2 days and hasn't left her bedroom except to go to the doctor's. She's missed a lot of school and she is normally a very active girl who is (was) on a competitive basketball team. I'm scared she's going to lose weight, muscle -- and hearing other stories, I'm scared she'll never be able to compete in basketball again. When she feels like eating again, I'm going to try to get a bunch of Vitamin C in her or maybe take her to a Homeopathic specialist or Herbalist? I don't know what to do.

hi
Have just seen your post. I had mono 3 years ago and my main symptom was nausea. In fact, the doctor didnt want to test me for mono as he was sure it wasn't that but my blood test came back positive! It went away but now it is back in force after 3 years and once again the main symptom is nausea. Its back because the docs didnt believe me so I didn't rest. Just make sure your daughter gets lots of rest and eats what she can. I think I mainly lived off soup as it was all I could force down. Did you get on with the homeopathic doctor?

It's been over 12 weeks now and my daughter is still nauseated. She can only eat 8 things: toast, bananas, broth-like soups, etc. The worst part in all of this is that she's become very depressed and anxious. She's scared to death to leave the house, she doesn't want friends over, and she can't stand being around people other than her family. She cries a lot and talks about hating her life. I can't stand to see my 9 year old living like this. While her friends are at the pool or enjoying their summer, she can't enjoy anything. I'm planning on her seeing a counselor after the 4th of July. How long did your nausea/Mono last the first time? I'm scared this is going to be chronic and that I'll have to home school her this fall. I'm equally scared that if she ever does recover, she'll relapse later. Thanks for your help and advice.
