I have mitochondrial disorders with everything becoming involved within my system. My eyes don't move, my ears hurt with increase hearing loss, bladder retention, dysphasia, heart spasms, autonamic neuropathy & peuripheral neuropathy. Just had an ileostomy put in 07/07. Ever since I've been extremely depressed. Mayo clinic says that mitochondrial disorders acquire depression. I have short term memory besides. Do any of you experience many of these systems? I am 49 y/o female that acquired this in 2003 and progressed rapidly. Has depression affected your daily thinking. I'm on Cymbalta, see a counselor and a psychiatrist. Please R.S.V.P.

" Sorry to hear of your mito problems. I have everything you list. What is an ileostomy? I am 46 and it has been two years since my symptoms began. I got really sick 6 months ago and they discovered my iron was almost gone. I had IV Iron treatments and it is back to normal levels. I feel better in some ways but not my normal self at all. The Neuropathy is pretty bad. I wonder if it is from herniated disks in my neck or really neuropathy. I had depression in the past but not lately. My spirits are really good. Have no energy but mentally doing well. Take Care "

" I WISH I knew your initials or name, your lovely picture looks like a very good friend of mine. An ileostomy happened when my large colon wasn't working anymore and I started having bowel obstructions. Those are terrible in itself that require surgery if all the extreme enemas, etc. don't work. After this happens repeatedly, they (GI MD's)only have one recourse but to suggest this surgery. Number one-to remove the entire large colon or in my case, I am in such poor health I could have died in this 5 hour surgery. So, I had to have the large colon left in and wrapped around and somehow sewn. It doesn't work 90% of the time. I have the part of the small intestine brought out of my body with stool coming out into a bag frequently. I had this surgery 07/07 and still hate it. I have been depressed ever since I had it and feel imprisoned. Besides now having an restristive bladder and needing to self cath. occassionally. People never are patient in the restrooms. So thank you for your prayers. I can always use them and need them very much.

Marie. "
