I have already rescheduled my appt this week and i really don't want to go tomorrow. i had an ultrasound last week and i should have been 10 weeks, instead i was told that i already lost my baby. (i had started spotting among other things that weekend) i have not passed everything and i am scared of getting a d&c. i really hate the thought of having another ultra sound and seeing my empty uterus :( can anyone please tell me what exactly goes on with a d&c? hopefully he gives me a little more time. i am still in denial some days, i still feel and look pregnant! i am thankful for this group and so sorry that we are all going through this.

" I am so sorry for what you are going through. I lost my baby at 10 weeks as well on Oct. 8th. You may not need a d&c if enough has passed. Your doctor may be able to remove what is left or if it is close it may pass on its own. I honestly don't remember a lot from my d&c. You will get an iv and they will take you back for the procedure but they will be sure you are "out" for that. I hope this isn't too much, but they will basically do a procedure where they will remove all tissue from your uterus. I had little discomfort afterwards, the emotional healing took longer.

Please go to your appt. you don't want to risk infection. Then please continue checking in with us on this site. I've found a lot of comfort here...

My thoughts will be with you tomorrow... "

" I was completely out during my D&C, I passed all but about 7cm on my own. I remember waking up in the recovery area, the nurse giving me something to eat and drink finally! My sister drove me home and I had lunch and the recovery was much easier (for me) than letting it pass on it's own.
You are in my thoughts and prayes. Hang in there, I am here for you. "

" I also had a D&C in February. All that happened was I went into outpatient surgery they put an iv in my arm and wheeled me back to the surgery room, from they the wrapped me in warm blankets because it was freezing in the room. My anesthesiologist put a mask over my face and told me to count from 10 to 1 and the last number I remember was 8. After that I just remember my name being said and about 30-45 mins later I was in recovery. I did not stay there long because they only wanted me to go pee and I did that on my own when the nurse came in. So after that I was able to leave.

I had a little discomfort with sitting but other than that I was fine. The worst part is the emotional healing. I opted for a d&c because I could not imagine going through that at home. "

" Hi,
I am sorry for your loss. I had two d&c's following my miscarriage. Honestly the actualy d&c was the least painful part of the entire miscarriage ordeal. The worst part of the whole thing was getting the IV. The surgery was over before I knew it, I was under anesthesia the entire time, and my recovery was quick and pretty painless. The emotional side was much more difficult to deal with. If you have to go through a d&c, rest assured that for most women the d&c is a relatively minor procedure.

Hugs! "

" For me the D & C was the only way to go, I couldn't imagine passing it naturally. It was a fairly easy procedure. They put the IV in and started fluids until I was ready to go back for surgery, after the anesthesiologist gave me the knock out stuff in my room in the day surgery area I remember absolutely nothing until I returned to my room later. The next few hours were a little fuzzy, I had some pain which they managed before I left. For me it was the best option. "
