Hey Ladies! I am 16 wks pregnant and scheduled for a colposcopy on Monday for an abnormal pap. Is this safe? Has anyone had a colposcopy during pregnancy? Does it hurt? I am so worried considering I have had a miscarriage...

The colpo itself is just taking a look at your cervix and whatnot. IF they do a biopsy, they'll just take a tiny piece from the outside of the cervix. I don't know if it's different during pregnancy, but as long as your doctor knows, I am sure everything will be okay. The procedure sounds a lot scarier than it is. :) I'll be thinking of you! Hugs!

I did have a colpo when I was pregnant. Also because of an abnormal pap. The colpo itself is simple. My dr. would not take a biopsy while I was pregnant but I have had one done before and yes it was painful. I do know of someone that had the biopsy done while pregnant with no problems though.
