I just need to vent a little bit. I don't want to get my husband in trouble, so there is really no one that I can go to and complain about this.
I have had it with the wives of high ranking men. They didn't earn those ranks.. their husbands did. So what right does that give one of those women to tell me that she is this persons wife and that I have to give up my handicap spot at the commissary for her because she has arthritis? i was so angry. And the worst part was that I couldn't really even say anything without putting my husband in the middle. I have ALS, a bladder disease, and several other rehabilitating syndromes and conditions. I'm really sorry her joints hurt. My father has arthritis. It isn't a fun thing to live with. But while her joints just hurt, my muscles are slowly dying. I'm not giving up my handicap spot for her. Especially considering there was another one at the end of the parking spaces. If her arthritis was such a big deal then she would have taken any handicap space. What gives her the entitlement to mine? Sorry to throw some negativity out there, but that made me so angry. you mean she actually wanted you to get back in yur car AND move some where else???? OMG that is rediculous no matter who anyone is. If the military thought that wives of high ranking men should have special parking privaledges they would have made "spots for military wives of high ranking men" spots.
ANd who is she to judge your pain vs hers? I had a handicapped tag for a while when I was in colledge because of my fibro and the campus being so big. I used it at the store because there was no other spots with in a reasonable walking distance. I actually had some one go off on me and accused me of using my grandma's parking permit... It really pissed me off... if some one tried to pull rank (that they dont even have) omg that would make it worse. Granted wives have to act accordingly to rank to some degree, they represent their husbands. But expecting what she did was beyond anything. I would even bet if it was your husband in your place and her husband in hers... that her husband wouldnt even have pulled that crap....

She was just doing that to be a pushy, bossy b____. She sounds like a miserable person actually! I can't stand wives like that either. Not only is it annoying, but bad for morale and cohesiveness. It honestly makes not want to participate in any functions, and I don't anymore for that reason.
If her DH is so high-ranking, he should be ashamed of her. Kudos to you for standing your ground!

I book all the appointments here at the Air Force hospital. I friggen hate when a lady calls and says something like "yea, this is Lt. Colonel so-and-so, I need an appointment TODAY". I go to look and the person calling is the spouse of a RETIRED Lt. Colonel. Lmao. come on now. I mean I respect all of our vets but come on now...the wife? (or dependant husband). When they call acting all superior, I give them the next appointment available just like anyone else. My first priority is Active duty and children. =)

Aw thats horrible. I would have been so pissed too, shes just a mean person. You stand your ground don't let her push you around!
I'm on treatment for liver disease and I get out of breath very quickly and my joints constantly hurt, but I'm like you I don't look sick, people assume things way too much, she has no clue what your going through!

It sounds like you stood your ground and by no means whatsoever do you have to give up your park to an officers wife. The only parking that is designated for this is clearly marked with their rank and I highly doubt that they mark handicapped spaces with rank. My husband has been in 13 years and I have been with him for 11 of those so I have experienced the stares and the I am so better than her glances. I love having converstations with them and then enlighting them that I am actually an educated spouse with a degree and a credential and then they act all shocked like a SSGT's wife could not possible be that educated. I love then adding into the converstation and what did you go to school for :)
You can find a way to get them everytime and bring them back to reality. And if they ever ask your husbands rank and name, just walk away or make up something bogus. They have no way to find out.

I'm SO glad you got ALL the responses that you did!!!! Every single one hit the nail on the head!!!! The thing that really gets to me about all of this, is how the WIVES are such bitches to everyone else. And as for the rank card, tell her to bite you! You got the thingy that hangs in the window that gives you a parking spot... I say if you were there first, TAKE IT. Leave her sitting there talking/yelling to herself. It's good that you got to vent! Sorry you had to go through that bullshit and it is bullshit.

Aslong asyou have a handi-cap sign than your in the right. Being a cop in the military, I can tell you that as long as your respectful, you can tell her totake a hike and no negative outcome will occur. She could have been poilte,and you should be bold. Don't let her husbands rank influence you. Some dependents are like that, the kids are the worst, gosh I hate military brats. They think the base/post is the real world. Little turds. Just because you are young and do not look like you are in need doesn't mean you arent' Just cause people get old it doesnt mean they all need help. I am a big supporter of respect your elders but the door swings bothe ways. Just be blunt and tell her you have you will shit yourself if you walk to far. lol. I bet the expression on her facewill cease. lol. Some peoples parents,sheesh.

She is not only making herself look bad but she also makes her husband look bad. Some women don't get that. It's not just about you and what you want you have to think I'm representing my husband as well. I would never do that to someone no matter if they had the athritis and I had something worse than that you just don't do that out of respect for others. Sounds to me like she is just a B@#%&!!
