Greetings to you all :)
I have noticed alot of people on here are Army, but is anyone Navy? I guess in most ways all the branches are the same, but that's what I am trying to find out. My husband, whom I love very very dearly, keeps telling me he will help me out with getting me some phone numbers for contacts of people that help the Navy wives and such (especially while our men are deployed), but we've been married for over 2 years now and he keeps saying that he forgets. To be honest, he is not set to deploy for another year, but I really am tired of waiting and worried that if I wait any longer the time will come and he will leave and I'll be left in a lurch. I also have a severe and chronic illness so he knows the importance of these things he is supposed to help me with. I've tried Fleet/Family Services and really, I got nowhere. I'm just wondering if anyone is familiar with how it works in the Navy. He will also be starting to go underway for a week or two at a time very shortly and the thought of being here without him even for that short time with no resources is a bit unsettling.
Thank you, take care, and God bless.

" I hear you, laura. That's how it was when I first moved here to be with my husband. Then after we got married he started sea trials right away (didn't even know what those were!). You get used to him being gone, but not really used to being alone :) Take care "

" Hi, my brother is in the Navy. I don't know much about resources available but I'm here wanting to connect with others who are going through this too. Colby is currently stationed in Maine, due to deploy around Thanksgiving. I don't have many people to talk to at home in landlocked Utah. Lots of military around, but little representation of U.S. Navy. God Bless! "

" Hi Niccid :)
I think I'm the opposite. We live right near the Navy Base here in Virginia, but I still have no clue what is going on. My husband is due to deploy next September and so far all he keeps telling me is that when the time gets closer his command will have 'family meetings' and the like so I can find out about resources and things like that. He's been thru lots of deployments but he's never been married so I imagine this is new to him too. I guess I'll just have to wait and for now I just try to find the humor in living this very odd military life :)
Take care and God Bless! "

" Yes, there are other's on here. Myself and 2 other's that I know just came on to this, we are Navy wive's. We just left Va. not to long ago, my husband was stationed at Norfolk then sent to Oceana when his squadron moved over there. My hubby fly's the c-9's, so I'm lucky in that aspect, he never goes to sea. We are currently stationed at NAS Ft. Worth(JRB). "

" We're Navy too, have been for about 10 years now. Even so, each deployment feels brand new and is scary for me. Should be old hat for me by now....lol My hubby is stationed out of Mayport FL now and is just getting done with inspections. Boy it's nice to see him in the daylight again! Seems like you (and I) have found a great network of support here. Good luck with your endeavors and I hope to hear from ya soon! "

" I just wanted to express my thanks, once again, for all of the great responses. I don't feel so...out in the cold now :) My husband says things will get better as his command starts having more family informational meetings and such (though they forgot to tell him about the last one!) and that, too, makes me feel better.
You're all wonderful....take care and God bless you!
