This is not our first deployment to the middle east, and probably won't be our last.

However, this is his first time to Kuwait (other than passing through).

He's heard that there is no PX and possibly no MWR.

I'd like to link up with someone who can answer some questions I have.

Anyone?

" Hello Kim,
I was wondering what base is he going to be on? Airifjhon (don't mind me if the spelling is wrong) I spelt it like it sounds, I know that one has a PX on it the biggest one in kuwait, and it is the main base in kuwait. Camp Udari is out in the middle of the desert close to Iraq and there isn't much out there, but a small PX I know is on there.
My husband contracted out for a company out at camp Udari. I stayed with him while he was there. Kuwait isn't that bad. Just have to be really careful driving, you take your life into your hands every time you do.
There is pleanty of shopping you can do in kuwait. The grocery store called the Sultan Center has alot of american things in it. A cool mall is the marina mall, they have tons of stuff there, Another is called the Avenues. I forget which ring road it is off of, but that has an IKEA in it. Jahra is another place a lot of americans go to shop, but again the driving is crazy. If you feel up to it you could always fly to visit him there. It isn't that bad there. There are pleanty of really nice hotels to stay in and pleanty of english speaking people. I stayed there 4months alone while my husband had to go to Iraq and I would go back if had too, wouldn't be my first choice, but its do able. It was an experience. And you should research and think about visiting really...Just not until atleast Dec, its cooler then.

I wish you the best of luck and thank you both for your service.... To our country...

Sarah "

" My husband was there (I think 3 times...or was it 4??). Anyway, wherever he was he was a distance from the BX/PX but managed to get there regularly. He did very few trips to local towns but enjoyed them when he was able to get away. Communication was a intermitent, but the last time I did get email regularly.
I told him that if he made one more trip there, we were buying property and that would be my "winter home" !!!!!

God Bless you and yours. "
