Too Much Medication

I had an appointment with my Internist last Thursday (I'm switching Nuerologists, but that's a different topic). Well, I was begging for help because I am getting a Migraine everyday between the hours of 11:30 and 1:30. I am teaching first grade this year and the noise level/stress is just too much.
He prescribed the following: Elavil, Medrol (steroid), Amrix, and more Maxalt. I already take Topamax(300mg), Trazodone(100mg), and Cymbalta(60mg). He also refilled my Norco for severe arthritis neck pain (I do not take this everyday, I try to get by on Advil). My question is: Do you think this is too much antidepressant medication?? I am not depressed. I work, and function socially (when I am not in pain). Since starting all these meds, all I do is sleep, I'm spacey, I can feel my heart beating, and I have no energy. Any comments appreciated. Posted on 10/10/09, 08:10 pm |

Elavil and Topamax and Trazodone will all make you want to sleep are you taking them in the morning or night thats A LOT of sedation meds to be on at once. I assume you are on topamax which is nick named dopamax for prevention why are you on the cymbalta and trazodone and elival for? you might want to see if you can drop one or two and see if that helps and doesnt make the M's worse!

While Elavil, Trazodone, and Cymbalta are all antidepressants they have many other medicinal purposes. All three can be used to help prevent migraine headaches. I know personally that Elavil and Trazodone have a very sedating effect. Are you taking them before you go to bed? I used to take them about an hour before retiring but I had to make sure to get at least eight hours of sleep otherwise I felt like a zombie. Discuss your dosage with your Doctor if you feel you are unable to function. Good Luck :)
