it's one of the widely used rescue drugs. it might work for you. take one at the very first sign of a headache for best results. don't wait to be 100% sure that a migraine is coming.

In the past (when I had insurance) I tried a variety of "abortive meds" including Maxalt, Relpax, Imitrex, and Frova. Maxalt did work for me for awhile but along with everything else it generally loses its ability to help and you have to try something else. There are the disolve tabs and pills, disolve tabs taste nasty but work faster. When you feel a migraine coming on, take one. Don't wait b/c once the headache has a hold of you it is harder to get rid of. You only get a specified number per month on most insurance (started at 6 for me then went to 9) so I typically has two seperate prescriptions for 2 different med's at once. Just DO NOT take one and then the other...you have to wait at least 24 hours in between the different med's. If Maxalt doesn't work, try asking about the others I mentioned. Sometimes Dr's even have samples...

Maxalt has been very helpful. If I take it right away, when I suspect a migraine is on its way, it usually works 80% of the time. It is expensive, but I was able to get it covered through my insurance.

I use Maxalt! My Insurance pays for 12 pills a month, unfortunately, I can get 20 migraines in a month. So, sometimes I wait too long to take it.
Maxalt does work better if taken at the first sign of a migraine!

The last time I took Maxalt was about 8 months ago. While it did alleviate some of the pain, he caused me to feel hot flashes, dizzy, and very faintish. (motion sickness) Because I didn't like that feeling, I have never taken it again. One med that I took and would consider taking again, would be Imitrex Nasal. Although it has a nasty taste that drains, I would just eat a peppermint at the same time. This is one med that I say was helpful for me.

I tried Maxalt and felt no change when I had a migraine and had to go back to Midrin and wait for it to pass. The only think I liked about it was that you could just let it dissolve on your tongue.

i take maxalt and midrin together with a snack it work well, also a glass of hot tea some times helps
