I am in the twelth day of this blasted migraine. I have had two rescue shots already for it. I feel like a pin cushion. And know my doctor wants me to come in in the morning to the clinic to get another rescue shot. I can't hold down any of my home medications or any solid food. All I can hold down is clear liquids. The last two rescue shot knocked me out for about 5 hours and when I woke up the migraine was still there full blown. The doctor waqnt to double the shots this time. That they have to be able to get me to the point that I can hold down my home meds. He say that they have to brake the cycle of the migraine or I am going to end up in the hospital. And I won't go there!!!I haven't been able to sleep more then an hour or two a night with this migraine. The pain is just to strong. They have already done a CT scan and a MRI and they both came back normal. Do any of yo get migraines like this? If so what do you do to break the cycle of them?

" I'm soooo sorry. Last year I had 63 straight days of straigt migraines, but the intensity would come and go enough so I could sleep 2 to 4 hrs at a time. This yr I had 23 days before the cycle has been broken with a shot of massive demerol w/fenagren (sp?) with percocet w/benadryl chasers. 2 days off then 3 or 4 days with a day or two off. Mine are mostly brought on by weather changes. I am having good results with wearing O2 at night and most of the days. (I don't wear it when I leave the house). I live at about 7200 ft elevation, but have most of my life. After 3 days of percocets w/benodryl (due to the intense itching from the percocets and to make me sleep at night) then I went to Darvocet and Tramadol at nights and when the headaches get bad I add back the percocets and midrin and if they don't work I go in for a shot of demorol and fenagren (SP?) Sorry, I'm a terrible speller! I hate all the drugs. I truely hate sleeping my life away. I just know for me that after the winter storms, I get a break before seasonal allergies bring on more migraines. The daily headaches that I get since the MTBI I can mostly tolerate and work around, but the migraines are killers.

I am praying for you. Keep bugging the docs for help. If you need to go to the hospital and stand in the hall and holler until they get you some relief do it! It's your body and you don't need to suffer. When you don't have the strength to fight any more, rely on your loved ones to fight for you and know we all wish you well. We all are looking for the same answers and we won't give up 'til we get some that work for everyone! blessings & hugs. "

" heey.. yeeh i do.. not so much sickness though, but the last 2 months i had 5 days without migraine. I have to take ibuprofen+ morphine+ muscle relaxing pills + migraine pills+ pills for sickness.. i guess itīs a matter about finding the right combination. This one doesnt take the migraine but makes it beareable, i can keep some food down and get up an hour or two.
really sorry that u are suffering so bad.. i know how this can get u totally down.. dont give up and bug your doc to go on search a better medication! "

" The only thing I found was to take all the irritants out of my diet completely and kill the inflammation with Benadryl so I could start with a clean slate. Do you know what your migraine triggers are so you can do something about them? Are they attched to your monthly cycle, scoliosis, TMJ, allergies? Attack the underpinnings and you attck the source of the pain.

It sounds like your body is forcing you to fast anyway so that may be a blessing in disguise. "

" Am sry to hear that... I know how it feels like , it sucks ! and its stops u from being urself & living ur day . I get migraine for hrs .. and sometimes ( well actually before i start the new meds) i had it for days : almost 2-4 days ... and then comes back with 2 days . Its was my worst days . But now am on preventive medications , my doctor said that when the occurance is too much ; we have to start a Preventive i.e Propranolol. Its doing good so far, but i have to also stop my triggers . Keep a diary of what you eat , or what causes it . Try avoiding any tension. U can control it but it takes time , try relaxing methods .. going to the sea , walking and exercise is also necessary.

All this will help. And i wish you all the best. "

" yes, i totally understand. before the cycle was broken on mine it lasted for about two years of daily constant migraine. Mostly because my treatment was all wrong. they were looking for siezures and not muscle spasms and finally found 'em. I was totally bed bound and my husband fed me through a straw. i was the the local ER weekly and that was the thing to get me to stop vomiting. basically lots of narcotics and abortives a lot. Lots of muscle relaxers and LOTS of sleep. I don't rememeber much of it but what i do remember was hell.

i know you are going through a lot and probably are really tired out. your body is probably really hurting. i hope you are able to get some relief soon. yes...head to ER if nothing else but be sure you are with the right doc. That was always something I had my husband there to support me on. When i had been sick enough and we felt we weren't heading toward an answer of some sort he would do some research on heading to a new doctor. New Neurologist that is.

I do understand and hope you are going to feel better soon.
My best- opy "

" Hi,
I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad. Can you possibly go to the ER and have your pain meds given through an IV instead of IM? I can tell you, not as a professional, but from experience, that this helped me more than anything else. I was given Benadryl 50mg for inflammation, Visteril or Phenergan for nausea and Nubain 20mg for pain by IV.
With this delivery method, the medications seemed to last longer and I slept for a longer period and woke with no headache.
Hope this helps you in some way.
You're in my thoughts. "

" I am still suffering from the same blasted migraine. My doctor Has really bumped up my resuce shots and if that hasn't broke it by the end of this weekend he has concidered putting me in the hospital to get the cycle broke once and for all. We are hoping that my antibiotics have kicked in by then and that might help the migraine. I have developed a case of phemonia. And my doctor seems to think I have had it for a while and it is what has been causeing my migraine. So we will see. But for now I am still having a shot a day. "
