" Reglan is a prescription drug that you can get in a pill form. It also comes in a generic!

When you're nauseated, dizzy, funky feeling in the tummy, pop a Reglan.

It works great! "

" I had never heard of use of Reglan for migraine until I ended up in the ER with a really bad one a few months ago.

When the doc said she was going to give me Reglan, I questioned her because in my personal experience, Reglan is an anti-nausea/antiemetic medication. The doc said that they're not sure of the mechanism or the chemistry behind it, but in 75% of migraine sufferers, Reglan also helps relieve the migraine itself. I didn't really believe her, but.... was in so much pain that I was slurring words at that point, so I was willing to try *anything*.

They put it in my IV and within minutes I began to feel relief! Yay!!

A weird thing happened then though - I became supremely anxious. I was about to crawl the walls with anxiety. I couldn't get OUT of the ER fast enough! I just wanted OUT - needed fresh air! I must have been acting pretty strangely, because my sister was with me and she was like "wtf is wrong with you?!" I only knew I HAD to get the heck out of there - so much so that I turned down the doc's offer to write a script for some pain meds to go home with. I didn't want anything delaying my release!

Felt better, got out of there, got home... the migraine started to come back about 2 hrs later and I didn't have pain meds. Lovely. Didn't want to go back to the ER, so I took yet another Relpax (the two I had taken earlier hadn't worked - which landed me in the ER), and finally passed out from the pain with cold compresses on my neck and forehead.

The next day I was better and looked up Reglan and migraine. It's true - it does work for 75% of migraine sufferers. However, in my own experience, the migraine may come back. Also, one of the side effects of Reglan is extreme anxiety - hence my crawling the walls. I don't think I'll ever opt for that treatment again. It's only a temporary fix and I didn't like the side effects! "
