" Just started, I was a little afraid of it because the insert said not to take it if you had a reaction to imitrex and I did, but my doc convinced me to try it. I have taken it for two headaches so far and to be honest I wasn't impressed. I will say that it didn't give me that wiped out feeling that some migraine meds give you, but it also didn't get rid of the headache and that is the goal. I am going to give it another try though. I usually give a new med at least three times before I give up because I have some really hard to treat headaches. It might work better for you. Good luck. "

" Amerge is a lot like imitrex. It's in the triptan family- works best when taken at the first sign of a headache. I used it for a while but it usually didn't give me full relief and it often took two doses to get rid of the headache. It's very expensive and my insurance was pretty tight about how many I could have in a month. I think it was only 6 so if I needed 2 for one headache, they didn't last long. "

" As stated, Amerge is a triptan. More specifically, Naratriptan.

It can and does work for some people. But as with every other migraine medication, no single thing works for everyone.

Of many of the triptans, however, Naratriptan has shown better tolerability than many of the other triptans. Enough that they have used it in preventative treatment where it is used daily. "

" I have been using it. Fairly expensive. Insurance sometimes restricts benefits, or limits qtys. You have to take it at the very first sign of a migraine. Once the headache gets started, Amerge won't work. But if you do catch it early, it works great. It does nothing to prevent migraines, just treats them once they occur. "
