" The rules for triptans are...take one, and if it helps yours head only a little, or if it helps your head but your head gets worse again, you can take another tablet in 2 hours.

If it doesn't help your headache at it, it is up to your and your doctor whether or not to try another tablet.

Relpax is prescribed in 20mg and 40mg tablets. So, the limit for one dose is 40mg, and the daily limit they set is 80mg.

So you could take two 20mg tablets in one dose. And then take 20mg, or 40mg two hours later.

Unfortunately Relpax didn't work for me. Maxalt did a long time ago (the melty tabs).

To help your Relpax work, consider taking it with two tablets of Aleve. "

" I use Relpax, 40 mg tablets, somedays it works with one and then sometimes the one only releaves a little and I have to take another to completely get rid of the pain. I usually have to lay down, ice pack on my head, quiet dark room. It works best for me. Hope this helped "

" I take one table, and if it doesn't kick my migraine in an hour, I'll take a second. Super important to take them at the onset. As soon as you feel your migraine, you have to take the Relpax. Mine start in my neck, and I can tell IMMEDIATELY when I'm getting a migraine, that helps. As always- check w/doc. "

" I have tried Relpax and did not like it all. Didn't seem to help at all.

I am loving Axert right now, which got rid of the migraine for good in 2 1/2 hours. But it is so damn expensive.

Good luck finding something that works. "

" Relpax = first migraine pill to make them go away and stay gone.

Compared to many, my migraines are mild... and almost always menstrual migraines or stress migraines...
thing is, if I don't treat them, they stay around for days making me evil and difficult to be around.

Relpax does give me a few side effects... a few minutes of my heart racing, and muscle weakness... also, if I don't snack for the first couple hours of taking it, my stomach gets upset. However, I don't get extremely sleepy (well no more than the 3 anti-histamines I'm already on cause)... and I finish my day without a nap.

However, it gets rid of the migraine in 20-30 mins... faster if I catch it in the aura (pre-pain) stages and keeps it away.

I guess, whether it works or not is a very personal thing. Midrin was less effective for me than Advil and upset my stomach after the first 3 or 4 effective migraine reductions. Imitrex made me feel stupid for 3 days after taking it. There's been a handful of others that I've tried samples of that were so ineffective I only tried once. "

" I have taken Relpax for years. I always say it knock my migraine out inabout 1 hour and then I stay in a fog the rest of the day. If I have to take more than one it means I need to make myself throw up and it's a food issue. I have been on pretty much everything and Relpax works the best for me. "

" I have taken almost all the rescue meds and have found that Zomig 5 mg Orally disintegrataing tablets work the best and fastest with the less side effects. Since taking all my maintenance meds daily (Keppra,Inderal, Cymbalta, Namenda), I can take a Zomig and it will knock my headache out within 2 hours. "
