Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

Below is an article of info from USA Weekend about the Cefaly device. That's the one that looks like a crown and you position the electrode on the forehead.
You need a prescription to get it, it is just over $300 with the prescription, and it gives you a website to get it. If you decide to get one, your med insurance might not cover it. So keep a photocopy of the prescription from your doctor to attach to your receipt so you can take it off your income taxes as a medical expense. My migraines are occipital (where I get most of my botox for migraines) and apparently involve the back of my head, so this won't be an option for me.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

It is intended for use as a preventative and should be used twice per day for 20 minutes. The theory is that we all have a threshold and if we go over this we get a migraine. Regular use of the device is meant to increase the threshold so it is harder to get a migraine and you have them less often.
It also has a program that can be used when you have a migraine which I have found does work for mild-moderate pain but I am not sure if I would want to try it will a full blown migraine! I have found it useful as I have a lot of migraines and I cant always use medication as I don't want to give myself rebound headaches so I can sometimes get by with just the Cefaly device.
In terms of side effects- the sensation it gives can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable but it gets better the more you use it. I get tingling, itching, numbness and a feeling like someone is pulling my hair! Also I didn't realise at the time but I must have been clenching my Jaw when I was using it and it gave me jaw pain for a few days.
For anyone in the UK, you can buy this device without a prescription for just over 200 pounds. You can also return it for a refund after a trail period if you are not happy with the results.
I think for me it is too soon to decide if it has had an affect, but I am definitely willing to pay the money, especially when I consider how cheap it is compared to the TMS device I had before
Hope this helps
Lorna
