I keep getting this horrible pain in my back, neck and sometimes in my toes and joints and I could crack every part of my body 10 + times and still be in pain I also get these server migraines for the whole weekend usually this all happens once a month and no its not when I PMS, its right after I PMS. I just don't get it, I have an appt in Jan with dr but I just don't understand why it hurts so much and why nothing helps much except to smoke some of my Rx stuff, and lately its been so bad I almost puke all the time when this happens and I am not an easy one to get that sick, even with the worst pain ever I can NOT puke, but its getting so bad now I almost do. Any advice I will greatly appreciate and try, I also take IB for pain and Tylenol but nothing from either. I have tried Starbucks coffee, reg coffee, soda...... all sorts of caffeine related things even drinking water but still now 2 whole days and nights still in pain. I also took a nap and it made me feel worse.

I have massive neck and back and joint pain when i have migraines and what i have are very strong muscle spasms that come with migraines. yep. they even show up on an x-ray. at first they were so strong it looked as if i were having a siesure but then the docs looked into it farther with all kinds of brain evaluation.
complex migraines are accompanied by all kinds of things like this. that would surely make you through up alright. does me. very painful! I have to take muscle relaxers, abortives and yes..very often narcotics to stop the vomiting. a neurologist wouldn't be surprised but what you are saying at all and would be able to help you out. best of luck. -opy

Menstrual migraines are caused by a bad reaction to the drop in hormones when your cycle changes. It's not part of PMS -- that is PRE-menstrual syndrome. This is a MENSTRUAL one. The back and neck pain come as part of the whole delightful package. So does the vomiting. This is not like any other kind of pain -- normal painkillers do not affect it and should normally not be used, for the same reason that you don't use a deep fryer when what you need is a horsewhip.

Ive been fighting the daily headache battle for 27 yrs. There isnt a instant cure in a bottle. I wish there were. Its no easy fix. You need to research and find the best neurologist who specializes in headaches close to you.I think you need a complete workup if you havent already had one including MRI,etc. Prevenative medications dont make mine go away but keeps them bearable. On prevenatives I still have headaches/neck pain aroung 5 days per week(not 24 hrs a day), without prevenatives I have pain in my head/neck 24 hrs a day 7 days per week. But my situation is not normal. Hopefully you will respond better.Would like to b your friend if u like, maybe I can share somethings that may help u ' Lane

Well I have been lazy and kind of busy too so I haven't gotten the MRI done that my dr wants because I have had many previous brain injury's from concussions to such bad concussions I seized. So I have been to nuro's before nothing new for me. I had 2 EEG's done on me in my life if not 3. I also have had many cat scans and MRI's. Still no answers I too have been to nuros because my dad said I was having MORE seizures but I wasn't they said it was muscle spams I must have strained which caused it all to take valume for it but I havent in yrs and I didn't like those at all or the vicodins I hates narcotics. I take so much naproxon right now I was like ok these will help here there then I realize how many I took its my daily dosage max and it's only noon. So I am admitting something has got to be up because these are so bad I drop things and break so many things. We no longer have some coreelle dishes and all of our glass cups like 12 things total in a few months. I just hate this my kid needs more appts and now I need some too, just not enough time sometimes. I will try and do it by the new year though and maybe ask my dr if they are muscle spams again like I had yrs ago in my back and shoulders. I don't know where those records are so he will just have to hope I am telling the truth I guess. But I just wish this pain would go away I used abortive's & nothing, only napoxon helps like taking a Tylenol would for a headache. So I am grateful for the suppression it does, but man I need to take so many its too many for the day. :(

I have horrible neck pain as well-with and without my migrains. I have a special heating pad that helps. It's a Battle Creek Thermofore pad that has moist heat, which really does help. I use to do a lot of caffeine, and use to think it helped to rid myself of the pain, but months ago I finally got myself OFF of all caffeine, and to tell you the truth, I think the pain is better without caffeine. I believe now that caffeine was only helping in rebounding the pain, at least for me.

I to get alot of neck and back pain with my migraines. But I have had a hysterectomy. And I am on hormones for the lack of hormones. But the pain in my neck and shoulder and in my back during my migraines have been linked to the migraines and to the fact I also have fibro. But it hurts even when I am not in a fibro flare. I agree moist heat seem to help alot and so does a good muscle relaxer. opy is right they do show up on x-rays. And it would be good to try to get off of the caffenine. It really can cause rebound migraines. But tapper off of it or it will cause major migraines if you go cold turkey. Talk to your doctor about a strong muscler relaxer for the times it is just to unbearable. And only use it when it is that bad. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

I was having migraines daily, with lots of nausea and motional sickness. My new neurologist sent me for vestibular testing and to a physical therapist because she suspected my back and neck problems might be triggering the migraines.
After three PT sessions on my head, neck and shoulders, the migraines stopped. I haven't had one for over a month. No meds needed either. I stopped the PC in late November because we went on vacation. Still no migraines. However, I started drinking coffee again last week, and boom, a migraine with visual disturbances. The migraine was gone the next day, but my neck is still still. So, I'm off caffeinated coffee and I'm heading back to the PT! To all who've tried muscle relaxants, what kind work for you, and what dosage? Thanks!
