As I understand it, in some cases, early HIV infections produce MRSA infections. Have all of youi suffering from MRSA, been tested for HIV/AIDS? I had about every blood test but that one for my CA-MRSA last year. We are living in very horrorfying times.

" Yes, I've been tested. Everytime I go inpatient from this they pretty much always test. And for kdney/liver functions. And for dope. Imagine my chagrin 2yrs ago when the social workers came in and said I tested positive for weed, alcohol, cocaine, meth and opiates. They asked if I wanted rehab.(NO) Nosy people, how dare them. It's ok kids, I'm approaching 500 days clean n sober in about 20 days. "

" I was never into drugs thankfully. I only ever drank in moderation, i at all...but man, when it came to womanizing, prior to being married, I was a skirt chaser, Inc! It puzzles me why some MRSA pattints never get rid of this illness, while others, do. MRSA is at times a secondary illness, which I hope is not my case. Having CA-MRSA last yar was simply a nightmare. Think about it, not only is it a rapid mover, it is highly contageous!!! I believe that I beat my MRSA, but I still worry about my health. I've had a myriad of skin infections, as my Dr's claim, due to the excessive utilization of antibotics to combat MRSA!!! I just wonder if anyone else on here has experienced the asme thing as me,,,getting rid of MRSA, but having fungul infections, folticulitus, psrosis...ahhhhhh.....I am almost cleared of everything, but I tend tt hink, what is next? I wish you all well.
PS Go phillies!!! "

" I think once we have had MRSA, it makes us paranoid. Yesterday at the swimming pool, my husband got bit by a bee right under his arm where the 11 lanced boil scars are. This morning it is swollen and red so I convinced him to take a round of the Zyvox that is just sitting in the med. cabinet waiting for an outbreak. I told him better safe than sorry. I have heard that insect bites leave a nice door open for MRSA bugs. "

" Congrats on your sobriety Ross! That is amazing you have given all that up for over a year.

I requested to be tested recently because I was having night sweats, the MRSA boils, slight fevers, etc. and I just couldn't understand why I was getting all these side effects commonly associated with HIV. So even though I was tested at the beginning of my pregnancy and came back negative, I just am never sure about these things. People don't show symptoms for 15 years. Scary, isn't it?? The test came back negative but I am still having the sweats some nights. Anyone else had night sweating when they were either actively or inactively getting MRSA boils??? I feel like I'm the only one. (P.S. sweating most around my chest and back, not on the head) "

" [Congratulations to you Ross - 500! May you have many more days...]

Pregomrsa: It sounds like you are experiencing hormone fluctuation after your baby, and some immune system ups and downs too (hence the MRSA episodes?) Maybe a good holistic nutritionist can give you some advice for diet / supplements etc. to give your system a boost without interfering with nursing...

After I had our son (now a teenager) I had some serious hormone craziness, to the point where I was having night sweats so extreme that I had to sleep on a bath towel. Very unpleasant! As I remember, I complained to my OB/GYN but never really got an answer, and only figured out years later that it was a symptom of hormones.

Now I am actually in menopause at age 50, and the 'hot flashes' are not even as bad - I get hot but not drenched in sweat. Go figure. "

" Getting drunk is always an option. I'm especially tired of the AA cult/religion at the moment. Aaaaahhhhh. I guess I'll stay sober for another day. Thanks for the offer though. "
