So, I had my appt (first one) with an IDD last week. I didn't currently have MRSA anymore but I went anyways... So basically he just did that test to see if I was colonized (I was, duh) and then he was saying since I'm allergic to bactrin and cyclindamycin it may end up being difficult to treat me (haha I freaked out a bit... I'm like "there ARE other meds right?" to which he said yes but anyways...)- so he said his "goal" is to get me decolinized so I won't get it again...
So he has me and my husband (even though he has never got it) taking a bleach bath twice a week (I'm such an idiot that I got bleach in my eye the first time I tried that) and baths with phisodex or something twice a week, except the manufacturer is not distributing that... so they said to use Hibicleanse, which I already use every day, more than once.. so I'm continuing that... doing the bleach baths for two months... washing our sheets every day for at least a month... We also went and sanitized EVERYTHING here including the mattress.... and um, other than that he has us using bactroban twice a day for five days. Um, does this actually work to decolinize people? I know I went eight months without before getting this time... so maybe just maybe... I'm still taking the allicin garlic daily (half of what I was taking with an active infection), the other supplements I'm saving in case I get it again. Still use tea tree soap and essential oil mixture I make... I'm hoping this works. Posted on 10/01/09, 12:10 am |

I had CA-MRSA, and wa also colonized last year. I overused hibbiclens, I beat the MRSA, but now am battling yeast infections on my skin, due to all of the an tibotics, and in particular, the extensive utilization of hibiclens. Just keep in mind that any use of bleach, hibiclens, et al..will prodce long lasting side effects such as yeast/clindorum (SIC) bacteria on one's skin. MRSA aparently, and the treatment of MRSA, causes secondary medical complications. I hope you beat it too.

Hmmm... I did a google search for overuse of hibicleanse and actually one of your threads came up and I read it. Defiantely very interesting. I have used hibicleanse on average twice a day but here is the thing... I've had MRSA 3x... I obviously was not using hibicleanse when I got it the first time. When I got it this past time, on my armpit, I hadn't been using it there... I had only been using it on my legs because that was where I got it the first two times. Anyways, there is a point.. which is, with using hibicleanse for 13 months (on average twice a day), I have only gotten MRSA once on a part of the body that I was using hibicleanse on. (now I use it everywhere... and it takes me forever... i have to do it PERFECT, so paranoid really)- So I don't think I'm gonna stop to use it yet but we'll see. Gonna look into this a bit more.
Are the skins problems easy or difficult to deal with?

My hubbys ID doctor said hibiclens should only be used 50% of the time. He suggested one week using it once a day and then next week not at all.

Thanks Amy... (and your husband)... that sounds like a good idea.
You know after I posted here yesterday I forgot to say I was VERY glad to see a decolinization worked for somebody (even if he isn't sure that it worked).... it's still nice to hear it CAN work, cause most of the news I hear is not encouraging at all. Anyone else have it work for them or know anyone?

My skin problems were/are more of an eye sore, than anythign else due to the overuseo f hibiclens and antibotics. It causes pimples, fields of piples, jock/yeast infections of the skin....not attractive to walk around with it on your face and neck etc...I was cultured recently, again I am MRSA-, but this gram positive yeast bacteria is on my skin...the correct topical meds are beign utilised and working...I haven't felt or looked this good since prior to aquiring MRSA in May of 2008.

" what about using colliadial silver? "
I have some of it still. I used it when I had mrsa on my armpit... only used it for two days, as well as some other stuff and it went away. BUT then I had a pretty bad allergic reaction... 99 percent sure it was to the cylindamycin but just in case I stopped taking that. But here's the thing, I want to save things in case I need to fight it off again... don't wanna get my body used to taking everything, ya know? So if it happens again I will take that right away... plus doc said it's not good for long term use..

the silver is suppose to be taking for everyday use....its what the docs dont want us to know about...they take it everyday to keep from getting all the nasty bugs they are exposed to daily....i take morning and night, and going to take it year round....i dont ever want it to come back!
Its takes drinking a bottle a day for several months before you would even start to get to much in your system...its very safe...
