Hello everyone thanks for your time it is appreciated and greatly so. I have had what my doctor is saying almost positively is mrsa infections in my throat, sinus and face area since the last week of December. It has been so bad I was in the hospital for eight days on IV vancomycin and Bactrim at the same time Doc said they almost lost me because I had cellulitis so severe from this(I am very greatful to be alive). Anyway, I was also on Bactrim for a few more days and then on minocyclin for ten more days. Once I finished that I was only infection free for eleven days and now I am on zyvox. Through it all my son is okay but I am worried he may get it. He is ten and a great kid wants to help me all the time but, I am afraid he will get this whatever it is. I use hand sanitizer often and we don't kiss on the mouth. I use bleach to clean my kitchen and bath so it is clean I even add bleach to my dish liquid so i can kill whatever is on the dishes. Still I am afraid he will get sick any advise?

Hey LoriS,
This is a hard thing..and I am sure you are very concerned about your son I would be too. All you can to is the best you can do..I have had MRSA for at least two years we know of and have had a 10yr old who comes over some..I do not allow her to use any of my towels...I clean the phone with bleach if I have used it and she does not use my bathroom at all..No eating or drinking after one another and she has never had a problem..When I am really bad I mask and stuff when she comes in and she doesnt get on the bed with me..All You can do is be aware and do all you can do..and if he shows any signs of it then seek treatment immediately.. Good Luck And God Bless you Both, Alvi

Thanks for your support alvi and postman. As for cultures I jave jad a couple this month and one in Feb. but they keep comming up negative. The reason doc says mrsa is because as soon as we stop the antibiotics the infection comes back within 10 to 14 days we just can,t seem to stop it I am very afraid last month was a close call for me and I am so afraid not of death mind you but that my boy will be all alone!!!!!!!! Right now I am trying to seek out a friend who will be willing to bring him up. How do you ask such a thing of people. Such a precious gift life is who do I entrust with his??? Not looking for an answer here just rambling I guess. I hope you all have peace and just keep fighting.
love lori

LoriS,
You are going through such a tough time right now.. I wonder are they giving time for the antibiotics to get out of your system before they test you? I ask that because they missed mine in my lungs for such a longtime. Kept telling me it was pnemonia of course would bombatd me with antibiotics and at first they didn't even culture then it showed negative when they did..Finally I had a span of about 2 months with no hosptial stay or on any meds the next time pnemonia showed up at the insistance of my NP while going in they cultuered before starting any thing and wally there the big bad bug was. It is important they have this culture without it they playing guessing games because it shows what the MRSA is and isn't resistant too.. Trust me I know this is hard and I wish you nothing but good luch and many Blessings. I will be praying for you and your son and hopefully things will resolve..Just hang in there and dont ever give up..It is alright to be prepared but don't stop fighting this bug.. I wish you peace to hun and know I am here in Tennessee just fighting away..Can't give up or it will surly get the best of me.. Hugs and Blessings, Alvi

Many people who suffer with either form of MRSA seem to survive several years with it, if not a lifetime. I had CA-MRSA last year several times, my toddler aged daughter never caught it. All you can do besides the obvious cleanign precautions is hope for the best, iif you constantly worry, that will cause more harm than good. Be safe.

And others die, or have to have debriment equal to and including amputations. At the moment a young mother has had her son diagnosed MRSA spinal fluid. To verify this visit http://www.mrsa-forum-usa.com the posts by Michelle It is truly a shame the "All you can do's" would be so flipant, as the US ARMY's #1 hospital has just issued a statement. Just sit in a corner and chant. Ignorance will cure me. Ignorance will cure me. Ignorance will cure me. I was just trying to help, a big FOAD to you postman, try using your real name and address.

Hey Lori,
Alvi here hun I know this is hard been in this situation a long while now thankfully I dont have the child to worry about or I would be more terrified than I am right now. At this point as we speak I now have it in my right eyelid also..That cropped up two weeks ago and been cut on twice..And in the beginning I still feel if they would have done the right culutures then I might not be sitting here right now.. Here is an example of a culture and how it is used if you would like to go look at it. http://superbugassassins.com/pages... Hope this helps..It is very informative. Shows exactly how they do it. Best of luck dear and know my prayers are with you. Just keeping on fighting and searching for answers that is all you can do.

I have it. I have two sons and a daughter. my one son has never gotten it. The other got two boils and hasn't had it in months. My daughter on the other hand, She is more prone to it for some reason. She's had multiple boils. and she is living with my mother-in-laws and she's gotten it only once sence being there. So it is better for her not to be around me. But I don't know I'd say if he hasn't gotten it yet he probly won't just keep up the good cleaning. Ps I was told to put a cap full of bleach in my bath water.

My 14 year old daughter has been battling mrsa since the end of June. She has had several of her boils lanced, and she has pretty much been on antibiotic treatment since the onset of her infection. She hasn't been hospitalized, but I'm wondering if maybe that is what she needs to get this under control.
Her doctor keeps prescribing bactrim and bactroban cream for her, but it doesn't appear to be working. She gets slightly better, the boils go away, and then within two weeks, she has another one somewhere else. They are all always either on her face, in her nose, or under her eyelids. The rest of the family hasn't gotten it, but I understand we can be carriers. It sounds as if many of you have battled this for some time now. Do you have any advice for me to help get my daughter healthy and staff free again? Thanks! Susan
