A friend of mine quit cold turkey about a week ago. He seemed fine for the first week or so, but now I've noticed that he is exhibiting some delusional behavior....fortunately he is on vacation the next two weeks so this hasn't caused a problem yet....it's mostly silly things, nothing harmful...I was wondering how long something like this lasts? Any help appreciated.

" OK, thanks, for the response. Fortunately I knew him before him taking Meth and he had no mental health issues at that time. It's been a little more than two weeks now and he started becoming more lucid the last few days. I was afraid to leave him alone he was so bad. It's been hard convincing him that some of the things he 'remembers' wasn't real. When he told me some of the things I kept it real with him, asserting these things didn't happen, he wouldn't question me at the time, but I think he is doing fine now. Now if we can keep him off of it. Thanks again for your response. I appreciate a forum for this as I had no where to turn. "

" they call it "amphetamine psychosis."
what happens after someone quits, especially cold turkey, is they can experience fits of rage over the silliest things, or get extremely depressed and irritable. For those than smoke or slam the drug, it is possible for it to last a LOT longer than for those than snort or eat it. I was a smoker, and have been clean for three months with one relapse, and the psychosis wasn't so bad that final month, but now that i've relapsed it's worse than ever. support your friend. email me if you need any more advice =] "
