" Some cities have Rational Recovery, which is a different approach than the 12-steps. Not sure what else might be available where you live. You might try counseling, such as group therapy, if you are looking for support. "

" There is nothing else. NA covers ALL substance abuse. I was addicted to many different drugs, including Meth, and NA is the one true way for me!
Namaste! "

" i am also a recovering addict, however, i could not get into the "NA" scene. i like to say that i "hijacked" my recovery from the rooms of AA. in AA i find there are more solutions, while in NA there are more problems. I DO NOT WANT TO OFFEND ANYONE, but that was just my experience. AA offered me more experience and more stability. i also attend CMA (crystal meth anonymous) meetings. the fact of the matter for me is that i just had to surrender to my disease and seek a spiritual solution through a 12 step program. almost clean and sober 3 years later, i still need the program more than ever. best of luck to you bro! " CMA and AA have brought me farther than anything else, plus a healthy dose of therapy to get to some of the underlying issues. Once I got into working the steps with a sponsor the miricle began. Whatever room, whatever fellowship, the work in the steps is what makes the difference. "

" Well, I think it all depends. Are you in recovery or are you still struggling with your addiction, or using I should say? there are other options just like there are different approaches to addiction. For instance, I assist in finding and helping families find rehabs for their loved ones. Some rehabs take a very holistic approach, some are strictly 12-step based, some are psycho-social, some behavioral, etc. etc. etc.. All are good choices, but not always the best fit for the person. I think it is the same with outside support groups. If one NA meeting doesn't work, maybe there is another one that will. "

" Just don't think one one hour and a half meeting will cure 30 years of drinking and using. "

" i went and checked out the "rational recovery" website and was thrilled to finally find a site like that!! finally a place where i knew my choosing myself to get clean and take personal responsibility for my sobriety was something real and not just some illusion in my head created by all the 12 step groups, where they say the only way you'll stay clean is if you accept your disease and surrender to the group and do everything their way otherwise you're "doomed" as their literature says. then, at the very end, after they got me all excited about this, i found out i had to pay a membership fee to even begin to use their site, and not a cheap one either. i guess there's a catch to everything.
