Growths?

My Father died in 1993, diagnosed with Lung cancer. He had a volleyball size growth on his right shoulder. I asked the doctor about it, his response was "It's the cancer I guess". This growth was covered with horrible varicose like veins. I don't know when it formed, living in another city, I was only able to spend the last three days with him. Dad was 79.

He was in the Navy, aboard ships, worked with coal, was in construction during various periods of his life.

Has anyone else noticed growths of this sort in either Lung cancer or Mesothelioma?

One of my brothers died of either Lung cancer or Mesothelioma in Sept 2010. His wife recently told me she does remember them mentioning Mesothelioma. He too was in the Navy aboard Carriers. He was 63. I haven't thought to asked his wife if he had any growths. They thought he was getting better then died suddenly.

I also served in the Navy but during the Viet Nam era, so as a woman and not a nurse, I was never aboard ship, except on a guest cruise.

Truely curious about the growth. Any feedback appreciated.

Sympathy to all those who have lost loved ones. Almost 20 yrs and I still miss my Dad.
