i am 17 and my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 after months of multiple hospitals, doctors, procedures I never thought i would be the one having so much going on in school i cant focus in school or have time to do work, Recently we found out that her cancer had progressed ALOT and she was a patient for almost 2 years at NIH and did a study, chemo and radiation none helped and nih told us they can no longerdo anything it was devastating my sister is expecting and my mom goal is to now live to see me graduate and to live to see her first grandchild. I never thought i would probably not have my mom around for my 18th birthday or that she wont see me start college.

" I am so very sorry to hear about your Mom and what she and everyone in your family is going thru. Actually I'm very sorry for everyone in this group who has lost someone to this horrible cancer.

I lost my Dad in 2005 from Mesothelioma and it was so devastating and sudden that we still have not recovered. He was healthy and active and then one day in December he had a pain in his side. After numerous trips to the hospital and finally a visit to Memorial Sloan Kettering, we received the diagnosis. He had been exposed to asbestos in the navy 40 years earlier while working in the boiler room of a ship. There was nothing to be done becauase it was so advanced. He was gone in 2 months. Sometimes I still can't believe it. Although there was a lawsuit and sizable settlement, it hardly matters. I just want my Dad back.

My condolences and support to everyone who has a family member or friends who has been stricken with this horrible disease. My heart goes out to you. "
