Menopause Information
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether. After menopause, which is usually indicated by the absence of a period for 1 year, the body is no longer able to get pregnant. Common symptoms of menopause are hot flashes and sweats, which normally last between 1-2 years after the final menstrual cycle.
