Femarelle Not Worth the Money

Sorry to have to burst any bubbles. I just got back from seeing my doctor, I asked her about Femarelle. She said she had never heard of it either, so, we looked it up. It turns out, the website is making a lot of false claims, which is too bad.
The product it's self is nothing more that soy (tofu) and flaxseed. My doctor said you can eat tofu and a couple of spoonfuls of flaxseed. 2 simple ingredients that you can buy from the store, and it'll be a whole lot cheaper than the $40 a month for the capsules sold as Femarelle.

" Hi Rebecca,

I have been using Femarelle for almost a whole year and it has completely changed my life! At first I was a bit apprehensive when my doctor recommended it to me. I was suffering from hot flashes throughout the day and constantly waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat but there was no way I was going to take hormones. My doctor told me that Femarelle is a unique natural compound from soy and he emphasized that unlike many other soy products it has been extensively tested. I asked about just incorporating tofu in my diet and he laughed and said that I couldn't possibly consume enough tofu to obtain the results of Femarelle. While it is a little pricey, on the brightside, I no longer have to buy wrinkle creams since Femarelle has done wonders for my skin as well. "

" I was not happy with the comparison of their formula to a drug used by cancer patients. I am not doubting how it works, only that you can get the same results by eating soy and 2 tablespoons of flaxseed everyday. Trust me, it's cheaper to go to the store and get flaxseed and tofu, than it is to buy Femarelle. Like I said, I do not like that fact that the company lies in it's comparison to the cancer after-treatment drug. That's one hell of a profit for something you can get at the grocery! "

" One other thing; who is your doctor? Because this in not a remedy approved by the FDA and Naturopathic Doctors do not approve of the methods this company uses to sell their product. "

" Hi Rebecca
Your doctor is not correct in their assumption that you can just eat tofu and flaxseed, Femarelle is supported by 12 clinical trials, and supported by some of the world's leading experts in menopause, including the former president of the North America Menopause Society and the President of the International Society of Gynaecology and Endocrinology. It has gained support through robust trials and it's effectiveness in reducing menopausal symptoms in equal measure to HRT, but without any of the risks. I think your doctor should look into it a little more before dismissing it. Regarding FDA, etc, it is being evaluated currently, but it is a difficult process for a herbal medicine to gain licence in US, much easier for a multi national pharma company to pedal their harmful drugs! I have been on Femarelle for 3 months, and I can't tell you the difference it has made to my life. I feel like the old me again! I checked it out very thoroughly before taking it, as I react very badly to many medications and was diagnosed with a suppressed immune system, so didn't want anything that could potentially cause harm. Femarelle's efficacy lies in its unique formula, which is based on tofu, but is not just a bit of isoflavones, it is a blend of many compounds, isoflavones, coumestans and lignans, which act together in an estrogenic manner on certain parts of the body, but not on others, such as the breast tissue. I am going for a bone mass density scan in a coupe of weeks, so that I can measure for myself the amount of bone loss I have suffered so far, then get it re-assessed after a year of taking Femarelle, to see if what their trials say is true. My mum is very osteoporotic, so I am terrified of getting this. It is worth the $40 to me a month so far, but if it works on bone mass too, so much the better. Have an open mind, and give it a go for a month, it works for most women within a month, so if you don't feel better after a few weeks, then maybe it's not right for you. Kind regards, Alison "

" The North American Menopause Society does not seem to support Femarelle. Sorry, but all I have seen concerning Femarelle, shows nothing. My doctor's concern was any company that would lie, and make outrageous claims, is not worth dealing with. They claim to offer the same results as a drug used for cancer patients. If it works for you, then the company should be paying you to hustle their product. Again, this company has blatantly made false claims! to me that is the bottom line, they are willing to lie. They won't get thru the FDA for a good reason.
I am in the throws of full on menopause, it is nothing to mess with. I am taking herbs to control the hot flashes, a combination of: Black Cohosh, Chaste Tree Berry, and Fish Oil. This was all recommended by my doctor. It works fairly well. And I don't take HRT, I take BHRT. There is a huge difference. And not every doctor in the USA is a drug pusher. Sorry, but I stand by what I, Femarelle is just another snake oil, praying on the misery of menopause. "

" Hi Rebecca
I still think you should read the clinical trials showing the effectiveness on Femarelle on osteoblasts, on the estrogen receptors, on the effects on the uterus, the breast tissue, etc... I am interested to hear specifically what claims they make which you refer to as lies. I am very sceptical about herbal remedies, safety, efficacy, bogus products. I personally would not take black cohosh, as this does work, but has safety implications. Femarelle does have the same effect as powerful drugs, such as raloxifene on bone mass, without creating the symptoms of menopause. I am not sure what you are referring to regarding cancer drug claims, Femarelle published study shows that it does not stimulate cancerous growth that estrogen does in a cancer cell line, which is used specifically to test such reactions of drugs. It is not a treatment for cancer, nor does it claim to be. It does work, I was having heavy bleeding, hot flushes, disturbing menopause loss, massive weight gain, fatigue, tearfulness, depression, anxiety, aching joints, etc, so have been in menopause for 3 years myself, so I so understand how frustrating it is to hear bogus claims. I have evaluated Femarelle, and have tried it myself, as have many women. It really does work, it's certainly not snake oil! I always try to eat myself fit, as I am not keen on taking supplements unless I really have to. I urge you to reconsider, why don't you ask the manufacturers for some advice, I did, and reading the full studies convinced me. I also spoke to a couple of gynacologists, who know about and support Femarelle- they are not paid by the manufacturer- they are unbiased and supportive. You really don't have anything to lose. I wish you success. Kind regards, Alison "
