I just started using HRT as my OBGYN thought that my sympotms were bad enough. Hot flashes 25-30 a day. So she put me on Activella. It's taking a while but the hot flashes are not as often. Has anyone experienced any side effects from this drug? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I started on HRT 3 months ago ( Kliovance). I have had no side effects and I just love it. Like you I was having 15 -25 sweats a day. I started on 1mg daily but by the end of the month there was only slight change. My Gyno increased the dose to 2mg. It took about 6 days to take effect and I have never looked back. Everything is 100% better.

that's really encouraging kaylish, I'm on the brink of giving HRT a go, when you say everything 100% better, does that include mood swings? Have you suffered from weight gain at all?

They started me out on the lowest dosage for the Activella and it did nothing so after about a week they upped the amount to 1.5 mg and it is still taking a while. The hot flashes/night sweats aren't as many but I probalby still have about 10-12 a day. And I can't stop eating. I'm an EATING MACHINE. Totally afraid to weigh myself. I've been this way for the past 2 or so months so I can't blame the HRT. I feel like I'm going to turn into a house if I don't start in earnest to crub my appitite!!!

Love it, love it, love it. I am on estrogen in the am and progersterone in the pm. Best gift I ever gave myself... getting back to "normal". Yes it also is a tremendous help with the mood swings.

I take a soy-based estrogen (Enjuvia) at the tiny dosage of 0.3mg. This and a local vaginal estrogen tab 3x per week and I'm "perfect". (I only take estrogen because I had a hysterectomy. I don't need the progesterone.)
My gyn started me off at a *higher* dose (usually it's done the other way) and I worked my way down to the 0.3mg over about a year.

I was having severe hot flashes so decided to try HRT. I was put on a middle of the road dose of Prempro. While it got rid of the hot flashes and lessened my anxiety and insomnia, I had a host of other problems with it that outweighed the benefits. I gave it 3 pros and 10 cons. I then tried a different low dose in a patch form and although some of the side effects were lessened not enough to warrant continuation. I quit taking it weeks ago and all side effects are gone and at the moment my hot flashes have not returned. Only time will tell but it sure would be nice if they didn't. Probably fat chance LOL So in answer to the posts title, no, I wasn't liking it. Everyone is different though and I wish those who are trying it great success and improved menopausal symptoms. :-)
