My problems started when I found out I was in Peri-menopause. I started noticing the peach fuzz hair all over my sides of my face and my cheecks, and above my lips and below them mixed in with black terminal hairs around my mouth. Also had peach fuzz on my neck behind the ears. Even have hair growing on my forehead in between my eyebrows and up on forehead above my eyes. My skin is always itchy and break out with bumps with this hair growth. I have had my hormones all checked out and my nurse/practioner put me on 200 mlgs. of Progesterone a day. She then checked out my thyroid and also my male hormones. Thyroid is a little low she now wants me taking thyroid medicine which I am not yet doing. Scared it will make more hair pop out and I can't take a chance like that. My question is does anyone else out there have this problem and how are you treating it? Practioner doesn't think I have any PCOS, so what else could it be? This is so embarassing and I can't afford to have electrollysis, any other ways to cut back on new hair growth any help would be appreciated. Thanks

" I just posted about this same issue recently. I looked and looked all over the internet, at Sephora.com, beauty mags, etc., asked for advice here. Finally I just decided to go for it, because I had "peach fuzz" on my neck and chin that were 1/2 an inch to an inch long. I also have about 5 thicker dark hairs that I have just plucked for about 3 years now. I decided to try an epilating cream. Supposedly Dr. Oz reccomends shaving, but NO WAY. My cute hubby ran up to Walgreens (a drug store here in CA) and simply bought me a bottle of Nair for facial hair (make sure it's FOR FACIAL HAIR the other kind is too strong). They have a sensitive skin one too. It took 3 mins for the hair to wipe right off w/a washcloth. It was pretty cool. I did a patch test the day before, to make sure that my face wasn't going to freak out, and all was fine. I did read some comments on a site that some women had "burned" skin. I think they 1. did not do a patch test, and 2. left it on too long. You have to be very careful, and keep your hair and any hair that you WANT away from it, but so far, it's been 2 weeks, and I'm just now thinking of doing it again. My makeup went on so much nicer, and my skin was really smooth. I've had 2 breakouts, but I can't say for sure that it's due to that, because I tend to break out sometimes anyway, and 1 of them was on my nose, where I didn't use the cream. So, there's my story. Hope you like the results if you try it, but PLEASE do a patch test 24 hours before doing your whole face, and start testing if it has worked at the minimum time, so you don't risk getting a chemical burn on your face...that would suck. Good luck. -T "

" I can empathize with ya for sure. I keep a pair of tweezers and razor in my makeup kit along with the old magnefying mirror. The other day, I was having my husband pierce yet another hole in my ear (ha) and he said, "hun, ya know you gotg this three inch hair growing out of the cartlidge of your ear lobe?" Oh my God, what's next????? ha????? "

" Ah the dreaded hair growth! HATE IT! Always have! I have always been a little "fuzzy" but these chin hairs are crazy! I keep tweezers near me at all times!
I have used Nair for the face and that does work, but yes, it can burn a little and make your face sensitive so you have to be careful.
I also bought that kit Smooth Away and I like that too. It works on very fine hair but I feel like I have to do it often...my hair grows fast which is a GOOD thing on my head but NOT on my face!
There is a prescription product out called Vaniqa ( Van-eek-ah) that I tried to buy but my insurance would not pay for it and it was like $65 or $70 so I did not get it. However, there are ads on TV right now offering $60 rebate! I may try to get it again from my doctor. It slows the re-growth of facial hair in women! Again, I have not used it so I do not know if it works but it is out there!
On a lighter note, I was watching TV one night and Melissa Gilbert ( from Little House On The Prairie fame) was being interviewd on the red carpet and the interviewer said "What are you working on?" and Melissa goes "Growing a beard!" LMAO! I thought "You Go Girl!" Here a celebrity admitted that on TV! Too funny! "

" HaHa! It is a full time job keeping up with the "grooming needs" of a menopausal woman. And no amount of strength training seems to help w/ the sagginess! "

" hi there, I have the hair growth problem and mine is in almost all places you mention except my get very long! What I do is get me a very small sharp pair of scissors and cut it at the skin surface. I have to do this about every week to two weeks ..I REFUSE to shave it with razor cause then I will get a mans bread shadow look. I'm 52 and I am suffering the extremley itchy skin(keep back scracther at bedside) dizzy spells, off bablance feeling. skin crawling (I have actually taking my pants off looking for a bug) hot/cold/flashes/mild sweats/nauseas/low blood sugar/panic and anxiety REALLY REALLY BAD! mood swings/DEPRESSION REALLY BAD/crying spells! /Feelings of dying actually picturing it/ feelings of hopelessness. neverous/ INSOMINA REALLY BAD . ALL of these I mention I deal with daily almost! Heartburn/indgestion. YES hormones are HORRIBLE and SCARE the heck out of you! I take NO hormone replacement it raises my blood pressure! I'm trying to fight this menopause monster naturally . My only support is God and I spend alot of time with Him, I know wasn't for God I would already be dead or in a nut ward flipping my lips with my fingers. I'm married but feel so lonely my husband hasn';t touched me as husband and wife in over 6 years NOR does he hug me, kiss me or give compassion or affection HE SURE likes to scream and smack ya around tho.. He is OH well no sense in talking about something there no hope for.lol Anyways I hate this ride and I hate riding it all alone. I have two special needs kids at home one 5 year old (adopted him at birth) he is Austistic and my 14 year old daughter has two colostomies and a host of health issues and when I use to change her colostomies and she urine and uses bowels out her stomach in a bag I would just hurt so deep and cry to see her like that she had colostomies since 3 weeks old and permenmant ones at 4 years old. One day Kayla said mom I feel sorry for you and I said Kayla YOU feel sorry for me? She said yes and I said WHY? her only answer was I just do. She would not say why, in my heart I knew why she was in such bad shape and with skin break downs urine costantly running down her stomach (they put stoma in a area that we could npot bag and then the urine would break the seal on the lother colostomy where she passed her bowels and we had tubes /medical supplies everywhere and it was just a mess no friends/no caring hubby and again if it wasn't for God I don't know how I would of gotten through! My son Matthew was in a car accident and in a comma for a longtime (he was 13) and suffered a massive stroke while on life support and suffered T.B.I (longstory) but again wasn't for God I would of never pulled through. My entire life from birth to the sucide of my dad dying in my siblings and mine hands to the day my mom dropped us off at a court house and said go see the judge I was 6 years old then but it's just been one nightmare right after another maybe thats why my menopause is so mad I don't know only Gpd does, but I ask God for a few years of some peace and joy in my life the scars on my face and body don't hurt me near as bad as the scars I carry on the end side, July 25th 2009 we laid to rest my oldest son and when I thought I could take NO MORE God again is holding me You know what hurts me most I think is when you are REALLY hurting no one around you REALLY cares . You will find it's only you and God and if I messed that up then it is truly all over and I do have times feeling maybe God hates me or I was born to go through this and hell bound, thats my feelings but in my heart I know God loves me but like anyone else in this world I can't seem to keep Him close in fear He too will leave me BUT I know he said He will never leave us or forsake us. To me the root of everything in this sorry world is SIN/HATE/LUST/GREED/POWER. If only people would get out of themselves and see someone elses pain and Thank God that they didn't suffer that and thank Him for blessings that they just took for granted. Let me shut up but sometimes if you just don't get things off your chest somehow you would just blow up. Sorry so long but my life story is NOT a short one it would actually take a whole book series I only touch the surface here. Good luck through menopause , I'm still on the ride and it is rough! "

" (*(*Polarbaby57*)*)

I just wanted to give you a BIG hug and let you know, that God does love his children and he will NOT forsake us. He is always there for us.

I would like to share with you what helps me get through the most difficult times......When I am sick or having a BAD peri-meno episode etc. I say to myself generaly out loud......"I know that I am not feelin' good or etc, but there is ALWAYS someone who has it worse than me. I then say........What I am feeling can not in NO WAY compare to the pain that my savior Jesus Christ went through so that I might be saved by his blood.

God Bless you hon, and please know that you are loved and prayers are being said for you and your family daily! (*(*(*(*BIG HUGS*)*)*)*)

GOD LOVES YOU and so do I. :-)

♥Blessings!!♥ "
