Pregancy and Permenopause

Hi there,
My name is Emma and I'm new to this board. I'm 39 years old and have a 4 year old son. I am currently trying to conceive my second child, my husband and I have only been trying for 3 months.
I know that is not very long, but I'm concerned a little about my periods, I seem to "start" for a day, then it stops then I start again for a couple of days. I've always been very regular all my life. Is this normal?
I'm worried I'm in this perimenopause, as it's seems to describe my symptoms when I research it, and I'm also worried as both my grandmother and mother entered it in their late 30's. It's not the "menopause" I dread, I just so desperately want another chance to have a baby before it happens. Is it still possible?
Please help,
Emma
