Anti-Depressants

Is there anyone who takes anti-depressants due to the depression brought on by Menieres? If so, does it help you to relax a bit? I'm convinced that if I can relax a bit more, the stress of it all will reduce itself, thus reduce my high levels of tinitus.

" I am not antidepressants but, I do take anti-anxiety medication (which also helps wilth the depression). I thought I would respond because I have also suffered from a lot of depression due to my Meniere's. Lately it has gotten better because I have found a way to control the symptoms a bit. I don't have any caffeine and I try to tell myself that the stress I feel is not worth another attack of Meniere's. I have to remind myself that taking care of myself comes first. "

" I take valuim and it doesn't make me sleepy and i function. When i was taking xanax i was slugish i didn't want to do anything. My body felt tired.valuim doesnt; do that. im also taking a natural herb that i got from the chinese doc she gave it to me, it is equeivelent to valuim. So i can get off the valuim but when i take both i am knocked out I get a deep sleep sometimes i wonder if i will get up in the moring, but it is so nice to get a good sleep. So im willing to take the risk. When i get a good sleep i feel better during the day. When any illness robs you of sleep you go down hill fast. "

" I've been taking Nortriptyline..10mg x 3 before bed. My ENT says it can help with noise and pressure fluctuations. Another way of saying it....it gets the brain to bre more accepting of what's going on in the ear. Seems to help along with hearing aid and a .5mg ativan when things get a little rough at night! Let me know if you have any questions. "

" Xanax can be effective for tinnitus, but you must have a skilled doctor taper the user off the anti-anxiolytic in order to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Theres some interesting info here: http://tinnitusmasker.com/_blog/Ti... "

" My regular dr first tried me on Zoloft and i was on that for awhile. Then he took me off that as that messed with me a little bit. Then tried me on Welbutrin but that messed with my eyes more. Then we decided too try Zoloft again then my appetite went thru the roof and i gained alot of weight. So we decided too stop it all together and i was able too take the weight off. It took me awhile too take the weight off but i did it. I was a little depressed but not in a big way. I have never lost my sense of humor, my sense of humor has helped me. "
