Knowing you, MyTrueColors, you have probably cleaned your cache, right? I know for me anyway, if things get slow and I clean my cache, that helps quite a bit.

yep, I usually clean it every couple of days, plus I block all 3rd party cookies and prompt the others.

I had an interesting discussion w/one of the meebo techs. He told me it's not good to clear your cache too often. It makes sense to me because if you're always clearing your cookies, it takes the site longer to keep replacing them. The problem comes in when the cookies get corrupted.

And the other this is that the ONLY site I have this problem with is DS. As soon as it starts, I go check other sites and they're never anywhere near as slow as DS.

Change the first sentence of the last paragraph to:

Another thing I notice is that it depends where you are trying to navigate to on the site as to how slow it is. I just clicked on the home page link and it's been "loading" for almost a minute. When I clicked here to make this comment, it hung up, but didn't take nearly as long. Same thing when I went to my journal page.

Just got the gateway timeout message again where the home page should have been.

Uh, yeah. Yesterday DS was fine. Today, molasses is an understatement!

And my messages are messing up. I click on one in my inbox and it is empty. Then I click on it and it's there.

Frustrating, to say the least!

I just submitted a feedback form about a related problem. I only found it because as people are noting, DS seems to be *really* slow and unresponsive today. Here's the text of the feedback form (I was wondering if I should post it here, it's not a big deal but...)

Hi,

There's a small problem with the "Become a Fan" button below the photo of each expert on their info page. If you click it, it doesn't give any feedback...so you click again, and again... then you look at the "fans" list for the expert...and you are listed three times (or however many times you clicked).

It's easy to work-around: You can clear ALL your listings in that expert's fan list by just clicking once on the "remove me from fans" buttont. Then add yourself back just once by clicking "become a fan" again.

But it would be nice if there was some feedback when you click the "Become a Fan" button. And if you click it repeatedly as I did, it should tell you that you are already a fan!

(I tried this Saturday 11/7 around 3 p,m EST. and the expert I was trying to add was Julie Cohen. I'm running Firefox 3.5.4 on Mac 0sX 10.5.8)

This www site has always been the slowest to load and change pages that I have ever seen. They did an upgrade on the servers earlier this yr, and it improved the speed for a short time, then they are bogged down continuously now.

It's running real fast for me today. It seems to come and go.

Yes I am the same here as Chris is sometimes it is really quite fast and at other times you have time to get a coffee while it loads a page.

MTC have you run a scan on your computer for spy/may/ad ware?
Some time back I had a problem with my computer being slow as........ and found nearly 2000 of them, removed them (took two goes to get them all) and after that it was great.

Hat, I have run scans using two different programs. The slowness problem for me is pretty much limited to DS. The first thing I do when it starts happening is to open a new tab and go to another site. In the time it takes to open a tab & get to a different website, DS usually hasn't made any headway.

I suspect that the owners are not interested in the ease or speed of its members navigating the site, but rather their interest lies in getting more hits to increase their revenue. The only problem w/that is they are cutting off their nose to spite their face because the slower the site, the less hits, which equals less revenue.
