How can a discussion post be revised or deleted by the author once it has been 'posted?' There does not seem to be an avenue to do this.

In communities, they can not be deleted except by DS - from my understanding anyway.
In subgroups, you can delete them if you are a founder or an administrator of the group - or you can ask one of the if they would delete it for you. Hope that answers your question.
