I started receiving medicare on the 1st. I get part A and B. I also have prescription coverage. I have help paying for my prescriptions. I just have to pay a small copay for each prescription but the premiums and deductibles I have help paying. I have been trying to find a new doctor ever since I got the medicare and have called every doctor in my area and they have all told me that on my first visit I will have to pay the deductible which I can not afford to pay since the monthly premiums are currently being taken out of my check. I was told I could get help paying for the medicare premiums and deductible and that I had to go through my local Department of Human Services office. I did this back in March when I first found out that I was getting the medicare. My caseworker has been giving me every excuse under the sun as to why he can't put the claim for help paying them. Then on Friday he called me and told me that it wasn't going through because of something with their computer system and that there was a ticket on it with the designers of their system and that it was out of his hands now and that there is nothing he can do. I don't believe him. Their system works just fine to handle everything else so why isn't it working for this? What should I do? I have tried getting the help myself but have been told I can't that it has to be submitted by the Department of Human Services. I called the manager of my local Department of Human Services and left her message. I told her that this was unacceptable and that I had asked for this help back in March and have just been getting excuse after excuse. I also told her if this wasn't not taken care of immediately I was going to contact my attorney generals office and see if they could refer to someone who could help or if they themselves could help. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried getting a new caseworker but no one returns my calls and they refuse to see people if you walk in there just to request a new caseworker.

" Try going to a local news org with your situation - sometimes they can get to the bottom of things like this. Sad that it takes so much to get on a program designed to help folks in your situation. Good luck on your journey. "
