Somebody passed me a bowl, not gonna lie... it was really hard to turn down but I said no, thanks... I'm quitting. And just passed it on. The smell, though, the smell got to me bad. I had to leave for a little while. I didn't drink. I basically drove every drunk bastard home, though. But I'm feeling good, I'm positive that I'm able to do this. Especially after I was able to turn it down. Feels really good. I'm moving in a week. Mom's not too happy about it but she knows I gotta get better. Everything is good, so far... not sure how long that will last but I feel good, I feel happy.

" Thanks, thanks a lot. It's been a pretty rough couple of days. Hah. So, I basically got told that I was a complete drag at the party. But idk, I don't care. I want this, it'd better for me. Night has been pretty depressing. I'm piggin' out on ramen and chips.
Story of my liiiife. "

" hannah..the reason they say that kind of stuff(I believe) is because they wish they could be as strong as you...your "true" friends will stick by you..and not say those mean things. I'm sure your still alot of fun..they just have to get use to the "new" YOU!!!! Its good you'll be getting away for awhile..you'll grown stronger and stronger..doesnt happen over night..but it WILL happen. Hang in there girl!!!!!!! We're here for you!!!!! "

" Thanks Hanna, for sharing this story. And thanks, all commenters. It is good to hear that each time we say no we get stronger. Sometimes after we say no, we don't really feel stronger right away. Maybe we feel more exposed and incredulous at our own actions. As in, an identity crises.

But then the strength builds up thereafter. Kind of like after one lifts weights. During the work out, one is actually exacerbating the muscle tissues. Only afterward do the muscles feel stronger. But that is just me, based on an experience I had over the weekend.

I found myself saying no to an offer to smoke from a guy that is pretty big in the entertainment industry (my line of business). I actually found myself feeling like I had a fever for like 20 minutes as a bodily reaction to the offer. It wasn't just craving for the sensation of the weed, but it was also tied in to the desire for a promotion through the "networking" that gets done between people in the biz when they partake of the weed together. Like an idiotic bond.
Anyway, I'm glad I said no. Big time. The sensation passed. The way to really succeed (in any Biz) is to be the best at what I do. I don't need to rely on the connection of a drug to form a bond. And besides, what is to say that this guy doesn't also have his own ups and downs pertaining to his addiction. If he should quit, he could also then look down on those that he knows smokes.
I didn't need to offer any kind of excuse or disclaimer. Just said, "no thanks". (I kept all the feverish sweating to myself). "

" I don't know (even after almost 12 years) if I could do it. I just stay away from the stuff personally. And no I did not give up relationships with everyone I knew who smokes, or I would not be hanging around with half my family! But I just don't hang out with them when they are doing it. Like I said, I am not sure I could resist the temptation if it was handed to me like that! So I would rather not take a chance ... "
